24 days to DragonCon. Yikes!

As usual there are spoilers behind the cut and in the comments.

This marks the halfway point in this saga and things did happen. The story did move forward. And the ending did up the stakes for some of our characters.

This time I noticed what was missing and has been missing since the Second season of Torchwood, which is the occasional humor. There were funny bits that made you laugh and cringe at the same time. Right now everyone has a dark cloud over them and making quips even about the current situation seems hollow. I understand that Torchwood is dark and edgy but dark and edgy with no soul isn’t very satisfying. I actually prefer the over all arcs of a season with done in one episodes and others that move the plot forward.

The new characters have problems and the old characters have a boatload of problems and issues. The Emo on this series is palpable. There are the beginnings of comradeship among the characters but there is a lot of bickering and pissing matches as well.

I will continue to watch in hopes of improvement.

I am grateful for Angry Birds.

Peter saw the solution of the ovens coming a mile away. But neither of us expected Vera to join and depart Torchwood that fast. Right now if Captain Jack Harkness appeared at my door offering me a job at Torchwood, I would say no thank you and close the door. The life expectance of a Torchwood member is getting shorter and shorter with each person joining.

Bill Pullman pulled in another sociopathic performance with masterful skill. Oswald Danes is just scary.

Another problem I am having is that Jack (Yes, I know he is the last mortal) not doing anything but standing and brooding. It is not the Jack I have come to know and love. It’s like this isn’t the real Jack.

The idea of categories of death would be what the human race comes up with to solve the ongoing problem. And it is damn scary.

So going to stick with it to the bitter end but not happy about the first half.

I didn't see the ovens coming (I tend not to even try to figure things out when I watch shows or read - I just let things unfold as I hope the author intended) and was of course horrified. Humans always seem to be the biggest Big Bad in the end- or even before the end. I agree with you about Jack being lame this season but I'm going to stick with it and hope he redeems himself...
