Today is my youngest brother’s birthday. Mom managed to have a kid in June, July, August, and September so that’s one birthday a month for four months.
Patrick is a complex person. He is a scientist, gamer, and father of two lovely girls.
He and I have a lot of the same tastes in reading material. So if I find a book that I just love, I know I can pass it onto to him and he will probably enjoy it.
I honestly think he is the smartest of the four of us (sorry Sean and Sheila but that is how I feel). He has always had a way of looking at the world that seemed a little ahead of the rest of the crowd. He can work through problems rather quickly. I have watched him mentally work through something. He had a habit of slightly shaking his head when he abandoned an idea. He formulates a plan and then follows through on it.
I introduced him to gaming and he took to it like a duck to water. His hand eye coordination is so much better than mine that when we were younger, I use to watch him play video games that I hadn’t a prayer doing. I remember watching him work his way through the Star Wars first person shooter and slasher. He got through Myst first. I wasn’t far behind on that one.
He has found a career that fulfills him and he is very good at it.
But I think his family fulfills him more. He is a very good Daddy with his girls and a good husband to his wife. He likes being both. He uses humor with his kids the way that our dad did with us. It is fun to watch him interact with his girls.
So Happy Birthday Dr. P! I love you.
I am grateful that Patrick is my brother.
