And the sounds of lawn mowers have started outside.

Today the United States of America celebrates the founding of our country.

I heard the re-reading of the Declaration of Independence on NPR this morning. That has become such a part of my 4th of July over the years. But this year, because of some other stuff I was reading and the Internet, I thought what a bunch of whiners. They have a list of complaints of the things that the King has not done or done and torqued the residences of the colonies. Yes, what he had done was onerous and he wasn’t listening to his people. But some of the stuff they were complaining about was not in his control but that of Parliament. One wonders what would have happened if we had the Internet at that time.

So far today I have restocked the larder which we really needed to do. This afternoon we might go out and do something or stay in and enjoy the air cool.

I also have to finish my paperwork for Dragon*Con and get my ideas out for Shoreleave panels.

At some point we need to watch 1776.

So have a Happy 4th if you celebrate that holiday. Be careful since this is also the national mixing alcohol and gunpowder day. We had a few set off last night but tonight is that day that I dread for illegal fireworks. Luckily it has been raining recently so the ground isn’t tinder like in other years.

I am grateful that the founding fathers declared independence.
