Yesterday was sort of a wash. I got some stuff done but not as much as I would like. Today the weather outside has turned cloudy, cold, and windy. It's just the perfect kind of day for paper recycling as I watch pieces of paper blow down the street along with the leaves.
Caroline's new love is an old love back again. She has become a dinosaur nut again. I got her this dino puzzle and she has been putting it together and then putting her plastic dinosaurs on top of the dinos in the puzzle. The dinosaurs are having a lot of adventures these days. Yesterday the dinosaurs took a ride on the pirate ship with the Disney princesses to the land of the giant pandas.
I am thankful for my local fabric store. I have been there so many times that most of the employees know me by name and want to see pictures of my projects. There is one woman there who knows just about everything you can know about fabric. She can come up with an alternative when they don't have exactly the kind of fabric you need. She is much sought after by the regular customers for help. She always informs me when new types of fabrics that she thinks I might be interested in for the puppets come in.
I am thankful for the AC Moore that moved in locally. AC Moore is a craft/hobby store and has made our local Michaels craft store, which had been close to useless, step up to the plate and improve the goods and services at that store. I now can get some materials I use to have to go into the city for if I really wanted them. Now if we can get a Pearl or a Dick Blick's around here I think my craft experience would be complete
I am thankful for fabrics that make good puppets. I had a hard time before polar fleece came on the scene to get a variety of colored fabric I could use. Now with the fuzzy fleeces I have even more choices than before. Halloween fabrics are now in greater variety than before. Patterns as well. I can remember having to draft patterns or buy them from specialty vendors for things that the main pattern makers are producing that I can get anytime now.
I am thankful for having taken Wendy Froud's doll making class a second time. I learned so much more on top of what I learned the first time. I can make hands that look like hands finally. My faces are getting better too.
I am thankful for artists that inspire me. They show me the possibilities and challenge me to become a better artist.
I am grateful for anything that makes my life as an artist better.
