RTBTCKI (The frozen water version)
Jan. 17th, 2006 09:39 amThe predictions are for rain and sleet changing into heavy rain until Wednesday afternoon. At least that will get rid of the sheet of ice on the ground but it does mean we are in for more yucky weather. Then we are supposes to be back in the 50s and 60s. I checked my calendar. It's January. What the frell is going on here? Ariel was grousing the other day that she had had no snow days because we have had next to no snow and it keeps snowing when she is out of school anyway.
OK next set of predictions for football Sunday.
Seahawks vs. Panthers. I'll say Panthers.
Broncos vs. Steelers. I'll say Broncos
Broncos vs. Panthers. I'll say Panthers.
We'll see if this holds up in a week.
I am already hearing about ads that will be "premiered" at the Super Bowl. They sound a little more conservative than the ads just a couple of years ago. The cost is still going up. What kind of return do they think they will get for that kind of money? I mean I understand about getting your name out there but I think there are more cost effective ways of doing it.
Caroline is still asleep which means that a nap is not in her cards today. That's fine. I have a millions and three things I need to do and sleep is not on that list today.
American Idol is back on tonight and I will not be watching it again. Since Ariel's buddies all watch it, we tried it once and found that we are not the target audience. Also Peter and I didn't like the mean spirited way that some of the auditioners were treated for the amusement of the country. These people were let through for the sole purpose of giving the judges and the audience something to ridicule. The year we watched William Hung was one of the people auditioning.
Dancing with the Stars is much more my speed. That we have been watching and enjoying. I don't like that they have expanded it to 2 1/2 hours a week but I do like seeing the professional dancers and young up and comers to the ballroom dancing scene show us what the possibilities are when both dancers know what they are doing.
Speaking of competition, we watched part of the National Ice Skating Championships this past weekend. Sarah Hughes' little sister Emily did very well only to find herself the alternate because they want to hold a place for Michelle Kwan who does have a bit more experience. She still might make the team and is putting on a brave public face about the whole thing.
Cranking up for this years costumes. I want to get the lion's share done on one of these by the end of the week. Off to work on the next piece as soon as a coffee kicks in.
I am grateful for happy house cats.
