Over the River and through the Rain

We're home. It was a bit of a slog but we made it. No snow but I think we went through every form of rain that there is from gully washing downpour to that mist that sticks to the windshield. The number of trucks out on the road was amazing as was the number of trucks parked in rest area parking lots. Every space was taken and the trucks were parked up and down the shoulders of the on and off ramp.

The rest of the convention was very nice. I was able to meet writers and artists that I had admired for years. Steve Englehart, who created Coyote among his many achievements, was there. Peter and I went out to dinner with him Saturday after the convention was done for the day. A good meal and fine conversation was enjoyed by all. Tom Defalco was there. He, Roger Stern, and Peter ended up on a Spiderman Panel and they were asked the Hobgoblin question which each told his part of the story to the amusement of the room. There was an artist named Dave Aikins there who among other things draws Dora the Explorer for the children's book series. We commissioned a Diego drawing for Caroline which is so wonderful. Caroline loves it. Dave had the good idea that I need to xerox it before framing it so she can color the drawing. Art Baltazar was there and Ariel picked up the graphic novels of Patrick the Wolf Boy which she loves. Andy Runton who does Owly was there. Ariel picked up a copy of the first one and really enjoyed it. Tony Cochran was there so I was able to tell him how much I like his comic strip Agnes. Funky Winkerbean's Tom Batiuk was there. I discussed the current strip with him and Steve. Over all I had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people. The convention is moving which is too bad because the mall across the street was a great asset for us but I am sure it will be fun.

Caroline will be 3 years old in a week. I have to get the house hammered into shape by them for her party. So there is my challenge for the week.
