The crisp morning breeze foretells of colder days to come. I have a feeling that leaf peeping is not going to be great this year. The weather conditions are against it. Where did the summer go? I swear I just wrote about the beginning of Spring and here we are at Autumn again. A wise man once said, "Time is relative. Lunchtime doubly so." I have to agree.

I have to get cracking on the Halloween outfits I am making the girls. I know what Ariel is going as but I am still working on Caroline's. I asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween but she gave me a blank look. Last year I dressed her up as Boots and Ariel went as Dora. This year I have a GREAT Miss Piggy costume pattern for Ariel. I have to size it up since it is for a child but that shouldn't be a problem. Now we have to find her some lavender gloves.

I am still working out the display in the front yard for this year. I have an idea but just need to figure out how I am going to execute it. Then this year I am going to put out some lights for Yule time. To do so I really need to trim the front shrubs for the fall so I will have to put that on my project list. They did fill in nicely from their grooming last fall.

Ariel and I saw Corpse Bride which is based on an old folk-tale. It is very good. The visuals are stunning. It is a film that needs the scope of the large screen so you can be awed by the detail in each shot. Yea, the ending is rather predictable but that doesn't stop it from being good fun. I don't think it will have the cult following that Nightmare before Christmas had, but I do think it will do well for itself. The voice casting was spot on for each character. Ariel didn't recognize Emily Watson's voice but she knew the name when reading the credits and was puzzling on it until I said Emma Watson and then she knew who it was. Depp gives a nice breathy performance as Victor and Helena Bohnam Carter was wonderful as the Corpse Bride. There are some other great voices in the cast but I don't want to give away any more. I think seeing this film put me in a Halloween mood.

Serenity opens next week. Mirrormask also in very limited release. I have a feeling I am going to have to go into the city to see it. The week after that is Wallace and Gromit. Good time to be a fan of the fantastical.

I am grateful for Tim Burton's body of work.
