Manamana

Imagine that, W. Mark Felt was “Deep Throat.” I thought we weren’t going to find out until he was dead. I’ll have to go back and see if anyone built up a case that he was the whistleblower. How was he convinced to come forward finally? His family told him that his legacy should not be anonymous and that he could perhaps profit from the disclosure and pay for his grandchildren’s education. His family didn’t make him available for comment due to “age and health” or the right price. I have the utmost respect for the man for what he did. My thoughts about the family are not so generous. It is going to be interesting to see what he has to say about Watergate.

I got part of what I wanted to do done yesterday including a chunk of the puppet. I have a bizarre idea to do the Manamana Puppet for my final project but I have to go back and see what the little fellow looks like. I know how the eyes worked. I would have to get thinner foam than I have now or use fun foam which they didn’t have at the time. I know how the eye gizmo works because I installed the puppet into a exhibit years ago and when looking at it I had an “Ah-ha” moment. I just have to remember the colors needed for fur and head and see if I have it or a close match.

I just put Muppet Magic in my iBook so I could watch “Manamana”. I had the volume on low but as soon as it started Caroline was in my lap watching it with a grin on her face. She wanted me to run it again so I did. Then I showed her “Java” which she enjoyed a lot too. She loves puppets. Well the fur is green and orange. Not colors you are likely to find easily. I can substitute an orange feather boa which I think was used on a later model of the puppet. The ragged green fur is going to be a bit harder but not impossible. I think I have green fur in the studio. If not, then Caroline and I are off on an adventure to the fabric store. Peter is writing the next Star Trek: New Frontier novel so he has been up late working.

In sad news for me, I found out through an article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution that urRac the urRu is currently in pieces due to old age and wear and tear over the years to the puppet. I guess my dream of paying him one more visit isn’t going to happen. I really liked him too.

We got Pandora’s ashes back yesterday. She is in a lovely urn of a sitting cat. It looks very Egyptian. He placed it behind his computer monitor where she loved to sleep. I had a good cry after picking her up from the vets. I wish I could find that picture I thought I took of Caroline and Pandy but I can’t. *sigh*

I am grateful for The Ed Sullivan Show.
