Yesterday I applied for another job this one is editorial and media related, cleaned the kitchen, clean the living room again, got all the materials for Manamana, found out that class has changed but going to finish the puppet anyway, and took care of a few other things. Very productive day over all I think. Today I need to work on Manamana, find my ironing board, do a short food shop and a few other errands, finish the other generic puppet, and those other things that pop-up that need to be done. Peter is going into the city for a few different things he needs to do. I am sure a fun time will be had by all.

I am toying with making ATCs for the conventions I go to this year. ATC are Artist Trading Cards. These are cards that are made by an artist and are usually traded around from artist to artist. Collecting them all is not an option but they are really a cool idea to promote your artwork. I have a screwy idea for mine that if I can work out the logistics I am going to make. I have seen some that are just breathtaking. I think mine are going to be along the lines of silly.

Its funny but I’d say in the last year or so I have been thinking of myself as more of an artist than I did before. Puppeteer I have been and will always be but artist was kind of an ephemeral title I wasn’t sure I deserved. Now I think of myself as an artist in mix media. I can create or recreate as my muse takes me. But like calling oneself a writer, one had to produce to hold onto the title. The production might be for public or private consumption but the need to produce must be there. When I get a piece done there is such a sense of satisfaction that flows through me whether it is a costume, puppet, mask, or doll. I have accomplished something.

I am grateful for being an artist.
