Hello my name is “K” and I am a Pack Rat
May. 3rd, 2004 08:37 pmt skips a generation in my family. My maternal grandmother was the Queen of the Pack Rats but my mother tends to clean house a lot and get rid of stuff no longer needed. I am a collector of stuff. I have fabric I have collected over the years. I have bits and pieces of puppets that didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted so I tried again. I figure I’ll use them in something else. I have things to make puppets with that I have found. I have magazines for reference material on a lot of science fiction and fantasy movies and shows. I have books on a variety of subjects. I have stuff.
There is a fine line between collector and pack rat. I think many cross it without known. I am also a collector. I collect muppet stuff. I have close to a complete set of the Palisade Muppet Toys. I took mine out of the boxes and cartons and play with them. I believe toys should be played with. I do know people who buy 2 of everything so they have one ot play with and one to collect. I take the hang tags off my beanie babies so Caroline can play with them. There are toys in the house that are Daddy’s and Mommy’s and not for baby. She is not happy about it, but she seems to understand. I am of the firm belief that toys are to be played with. I know that this shocks some collectors. Hey, I read all the comics I have in my collection too....many times. What is the point of having stuff if you can’t use it and enjoy it?
