Usual rules apply. Spoilers behind the cut and in the comments. We are only discussing Dr. Who from Unearthly Child to this Episode. No Spoilers of future episodes with the exception of the title of the next episode.

Again this felt a lot like Old Who. Doctor #3 to be specific. Which will be discussed more in the section below the cut. And again you could have dropped just about any Doctor into the plot and the end of the episode would be the same. I think this is being done on purpose now and I really don’t mind it. Going back to the roots of the show is not a bad way to go.

Creepy House, Mysterious Ghost, Broken People are all tropes but I think that this episode worked on several levels.

Clara is going up in my list of favorite companions. She reminded me most of Ace in this episode with a little Sarah Jane Mixed in.

So over all, really liked it and looking forward to the next episode “Journey to the Center of the TARDIS”.

So Almost Wolverine and Verity Lambert go into a haunted house…

Did anyone else catch the Metebelius III reference? The crystal cost Doctor #3 his “life” eventually.

I have to say that Jenna-Louise Coleman played the conversation in the TARDIS when they are going from the beginning to the ends of the Earth was spot on. It was haunting almost. Matt Smith played his response well too. What are the companions to the Doctor? Clara wants to know where she stands and why her.

This last 5 minutes of the episode “Oh I was such an idiot, this is what was really going on” better vanish soon. It feels like the writer didn’t know what they were doing or they got a note that changed the whole episode and they decided to shoehorn it in at the end.

So we had a Doctor #2 type episode last week along with a reference to that specific Doctor and this week we had a Doctor #3 type episode along with a specific reference. Are the rest of the episodes going to follow suit? Remember Doctor #4 was the only time we saw other rooms in the TARDIS other than the console room including that swimming pool.

Not as much sonic this time around so good on that.

Overall I enjoyed it. Caroline hid during the episode because it frightened her. We told her the end and she felt better about it overall.

I am grateful for the nods to the rich history that is Doctor Who.

If Doctor Who is returning to its roots, I'll be a lot happier with it. I haven't quite given up on it, but I'm definitely getting less interested. I haven't even bothered to check whether last season is out on DVD yet, so I can finally watch it. (::checks Amazon:: Hmmmm, I see Part 1 is out now, with Part 2 releasing in late May. Maybe I should go ahead and order that.)

I agree completely. Clearly, he's going back to the roots and I LOVE it!

Actually, we saw bedrooms during Five's era, but nothing as odd as the workshop and the endless corridors of Four. (Invasion of Time is good for many things, including the art gallery)

Moffat is definitely working up to the Anniversary. I also think there is an underlying thing about Clara, which we are barely seeing for all these Old Who Episodes that is going to whack us upside the head when we stop looking. Like the crack that kept appearing for no real reason.
Oy.
