Monday Musings: That was a Nice Weekend

puppetmakerThis past weekend we went to the Super Wildpig Show in New Jersey. It was at a very nice Embassy Suites in Piscataway which still has the original idea for the interior with lots of live plant life which does make the lobby maybe a wee bit more humid but the air is definitely not as drying as it is in other hotels. My throat didn’t hurt by day two nor do I feel severely dehydrated this morning and I didn’t drink my usual amount of water. They maintain it very well.
Caroline loved the hotel. The breakfast met her approval. She loved the pool. She could watch her DVDs and read comics and run around. She had a great time and it was a very relaxing weekend for her.
Caroline and I went to see Pirates: Band of Misfits on Sunday. My spoiler free review, not quite the plot I was expecting given the advertising but a lot of fun all the same. The characters were great and Caroline loved it. Not Wallace and Gromit but not a bad picture in the least. Does have some cartoon violence but that is about all. If your child is sensitive to the death of animals (even made of clay) there is one scene that is a little hard to watch. I still have Caroline’s finger prints in my arm from how hard she was clutching me. Just know that everything does turn out OK. And the voice choices are just spot on including Brian Blessed.
Kitty politics seemed to have gone well over the weekend. Fig is part of the cat pile sleeping on the other couch.
This week is a little bit of every thing. Big event for the week is that Ariel is coming back home from college at the end of the week. So part of the week is cleaning up from the past adventure and getting ready for Ariel to some home.
This doesn’t mean that I won’t be making things this week since I am still behind the 8-ball on two projects.
So Tuesday will be crafty, Wednesday will be convention related, Thursday will probably be introspection, and the rest of the week will be whatever I feel like writing about. I might sneak a Dark Shadows review in here.
I am grateful for relaxing weekends with Caroline.
