Doing the Dance of Birthdays

I am going to have a quiet birthday. I am eating food I want to eat that I can’t get outside of Atlanta. I am hoping to get together with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time. With the bundle of energy that is Caroline, quiet is good.
I was born 9/9/63. I have always found it fun to play with mathematically. If you add the 6 and the 3 you get 9. Add it all together and you get 27 which is 3 to the 3rd. And 9 is 3 times 3 and so forth. (The number of the day on Sesame Street today was 9)
Caroline was showing signs of turning two. There were a number of short temper tantrums as she didn’t get what she wanted. I think part of it was that her nap was truncated and part of it has to do with the frustration of wanting to be able to communicate but can’t quite yet. She was a much happier little girl this morning.
Some friends of mine won big at the World Con this year. "Encounter of Light and Darkness," won Best Workmanship, Novice Class, for 2 Dimensional Recreation and Best Presentation for Novice Class. There were about 50 entries with quite a number of novice class groups. I think that is a very good sign. We need to continue to have new blood in the costume calls at conventions.
DragonCon had a lot of great costumes. Some of the workmanship that went into the costumes was just fabulous. A lot of the Lord of the Rings costumes were dead on for the movie costumes. DragonCon contestants had stiff competition in presentation this year especially in the Master Class category. And we need that. If it gets too easy then why compete. OK there are the nifty trophies and prizes but you have only so much shelf space. When I was a young costumer I looked up to the older/ more experienced costumers. Now I find that I am one of the people giving advise to the newcomers.
I am grateful that I made it to this birthday.
(This is the 3rd time I have typed this since my work processing program kept shutting down on me Sigh)

(Hey, did you know you can sing "Happy Birthday" to the tune of the "Hallelujiah Chorus"? Try it some time and confuse your friends and family...)
