Bits and Pieces

Considering how fragmented my brain feels this morning it seemed a good time to do one of my stream of consciousness blog entries. I went to bed with a backache and woke up early with a headache.
It’s 10 weeks until the elections. Does anyone know when cut off to register to vote in the election is? Or does it vary by State? I really don’t care about people’s political affiliations. I do care that people exercise their right to vote. I become a little upset when they over exercise that right. There was an article in the Daily News this past Sunday I believe about people who are registered to vote in both New York and Florida. Most of them are snowbirds who want a voice in both places that they live. Voting twice is illegal but apparently goes on all the time. This is not a few 100 people we are talking about over 40,000 people have done this. Most people just vote once and don’t even think about doing an absentee ballot. But there are some that do both. There are stiff fines and jail time for those caught.
I love Magna Doodle. It is a tablet with iron fillings in it that can be manipulated with a stylus that is magnetized. There is another magnet in the tablet that pulls the iron fillings down through white sand so you can draw again. Caroline thinks that this is the greatest toy since the teddy bear. It can keep her occupied for long periods of time. She can wipe the screen if the lever is in the up position. She loves to draw and scribble. I put out crayons and paper for her and she will play for quite a while with them. She stays on the paper for the most part too.
I have a new (anti) hero, Foamy the Squirrel. It is a twisted cartoon in the same vein as Invader Zim but with much stronger language. The current cartoon is about a certain coffee house giant and a very upset squirrel. I would say the language is an “R” rating but very funny. Foamy must be getting popular since Hot Topic picked up the character.

Yea for the woman’s soccer team at the Olympics. I watched the whole game or what they showed of it on NBC. It was a very good game and could have gone with way. I also like that the men’s basketball team is not able to just walk through their games and win. They have had some serious wake up calls handed to them. They are talking about taking softball/baseball out of the Olympics. I don’t know how I feel about that. There are a number of events that these Olympics were the last time they will be in the Olympics.
I am grateful that I have friends.

Date: 2004-08-27 03:53 pm (UTC)When Barbara was at the hospital, she had to restrain herself -- three times! -- from singing, "Sad is the world/But I have my Kevorkian scarf..." It was much harder when she was doped up, and she said she nearly slipped. ;)
The last time, I was back with her in post-op & I relieved the pressure by singing it for her.
Foamy is my Lord & Master.
