You would think that only an hour difference wouldn’t make that much of a difference but this morning my head feels like it is full of the stuffing I put in my hand puppets. Caroline couldn’t sleep and finally stopped popping out of bed about 10:30 but I could hear her singing to the cat at 11:00. So this morning she did get up and get dressed in time without complaint but her eyes have very dark circles around them.
I am behind on football. What I did see was riddled with penalties. More games were lost this week because of penalties than anything else. Teams didn’t win more than teams lost because of what they did on the field. I did catch the end of the Bears vs. the Packers game. The Packets might have had it if the defense hadn’t amassed those penalties. Hardest one had to be the interception that was given back to the Bears because of helmet to helmet contact. Giants did the same doggone thing giving the game over on penalties. I have a feeling there is going to be a whole lot of shouting going on in locker rooms this week.
I have come to the conclusion that Dr. Who must hire the nicest sort of people. I have yet to meet someone be it writer, actor or even dresser who isn’t just delightful to talk to. I have heard tale of some raging egos over the years but not in my encounters including some of the supposed Egos that walk on legs. Maybe I have been lucky but I do enjoy my time with them.
Sophie Aldred is going to be at Armageddon Expo this year doing the same shows I did with Peter a year ago. Y’all are in for a real treat. She is such a lovely person.
It is hard to believe that it is almost a year since we went off on our adventure to the Southern Hemisphere. A lot has happened since then but I still get a warm glow thinking about it in my heart.
Harlan did finish the two stories he started on Friday by the end of his last talk on Sunday. Sometimes it can take him a while to get around but eventually he does finish them. It was nice seeing Harlan and Susan. It was also nice to see Brit Pack and the Ellison Nine (of which I think we had 7 out of the 9) and other people I have gotten to know through the years because of Harlan and Susan. There are in jokes in the group for those of us who were there when it happened. “Guava Paste is People” comes to mind. And there is a certain comradely that comes from being pulled into the Ellison orbit.
Next on the docket is the New York Comic Con. Peter will be there all three days. Caroline and I will be there only Saturday and Sunday. Then I think we have about a month or more before we are off somewhere else. Which will be nice. I swear we have been on the go since last spring. As much as I enjoy travel, I need a little time at home with Peter home at the same time.
Today I am keeping a little loose because I am not quite sure what I am up for. My elbow popped during bowling last night and it is feeling tender this morning. I haven’t tried pick anything up heaver than my coffee cup this morning. So I am going to see what I can get it to do.
Maybe I’ll sit down and read a book. I have two that I took out of the library and I haven’t cracked either. Also the used bookstore in Madison (Frugal Muse) yielded some fun books that we bought. Caroline got 10 books for what we would pay for about 3 paperbacks for her. She has read through half of them already. I love that reading is just a part of her like breathing. Reading is just something that you do because it’s fun. I think we did well on that. Now I have to convince her that Math is also fun and we’ll be in good shape. I do know that she is enjoying it more these days.
So that’s about where my head is at this morning. I am surprised that I was able to get that much out of my brain.
Ya’ll have a good un’ ya hear.
I am grateful for connecting flights that connect correctly.

Date: 2010-09-28 04:31 pm (UTC)Take small steps to get your brain unfried. I think it's not just time ZONE difference that befuzzles you and me so much as it is the difference between convention time and homelife time. It really is almost literally a switching of gears.
Speaking of conventions, both Michael and I are sorry we won't be at NYCC this year. Suddenly October has become a very complicated month for us.
