Pogo FTW!!!! My childhood was shaped by the old volumes I discovered in my parents' shelves. Nowadays when I look at the art and especially the lettering, the ease and beauty of it just makes me want to weep.

Walt Kelly and Pogo still invade my life from time to time. I even had a best friend named "Wumpy" when I was little (apparently, her nickname came from an old Pogo cartoon).

And yes, I still use the phrase "Friday the 13th falls on a [fill in the appropriate day of the week]" at least 3-4 times each year.
