OK short version of both the radio silence and some rather cryptic comments from me.

Peter had back surgery yesterday. He’s fine. It was not life threatening more quality of life threatening. It was the best way to deal with the problem he had.

It was done on an outpatient basis at a local (well relatively local. The Hospital was in Nassau and we live in Suffolk) hospital. He came home last night and is recovering.

Surgery is Surgery. There is pain afterwards that needs to be dealt with and we are doing what we can to make him comfortable and give his body some time to recover from the trauma of being cut open.

Right now we are going to be at Shoreleave. That might change but that is the current plan. Which means I have 11 days to get Caroline’s costume done and assemble some stuff for the art show (if there is still space). But I am not going to push anything right now because my focus has to be on Peter and the girls.

So that’s what has been happening. Good thoughts, prayers, energy etc. is gratefully accepted.

I am grateful for surgery that relieves pain.

*hugs* to you and Peter (gentle hugs anyway!) Any surgery (inpatient or no) is huge amounts of no fun. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Hope you can do Shoreleave. It's been ages since we've been, and this summer is busy with no room for the con, sadly.

That's TWO people I know of who had surgery yesterday! o.O It was preventative in the other person's case, too, at least, but still: not what anyone wants on a Friday. Sorry.

Thinking of you guys...

*wishes for much less pain during recovery and immediately better quality of life...* I'm glad that there was something that could be done to help Peter. My mom has had back issues for over 30 years, so I know how painful spasms can be debilitating while they last, and that sometimes all you can do is ride the pain. (In her case, there isn't much that can be done. The myelin sheath that protects her spinal cord has worn down in spots from friction caused by chipped, compacted, or worn vertebrae. This on top of the old injury from which doctors said she'd never walk again.)
