Since I haven’t explained it in a while and I know there are new readers (waves to new readers of this web log), RTBTCKI is Random Thoughts before the Coffee kicks in. It is my brain dump of whatever I am thinking. My one rule is that all thoughts must be expressed before the caffeine starts my brain firing in the proper order. So this can be totally random or end up with a theme without my knowing it.
It is raining again this morning. We can use the rain but not this much in such a short time. Low laying areas are flooded out and it is making travel through the surface streets rather difficult. Main roads are doing OK but not great. A lot of the run off water has a layer of pollen on top of it. That yellow green gunk makes the water look rather alien. But it is nice to know that it is out of the air.
Mets got rained out last night and are to play a double header today. The way that the schedule is set up, there is very little margin for games to be played at a later date so we end up with double headers. More baseball to watch but bigger chance for injury to the players since most of them are going to play both games.
Is basketball over yet? How about hockey? Ok I’ll admit some of the hockey games have been pretty exciting. And there has been a game or two that has been amazing in the basketball playoffs but the majority of the games haven’t been that thrilling.
It hard to believe but this May will be 20 years since I graduated from the Yale School of Drama. It will also be 20 years since the passing of Jim Henson. It has been a rather interesting 20 years for me. I have a feeling that I will be reflecting on that in the weeks to come.
I put up my NWR for The Beast Below yesterday. I figure that either Monday or Sunday will become NWR day so there is some consistency. Not that this won’t go out the window if I want to talk about something else.
FYI to writers who want to be published, editors and agents can google too and what you put out on the web like on you Facebook, My Space, or Twitter or other social platform can be found. If they, after a quick look at your social pages or web log, decide that you are not the kind of person that they would care work with or feel that there would be a problem promoting, your manuscript will be returned no matter how good it is. Believe me there are enough prima donnas’ already in publishing that they really don’t need to add you to the mix. Good rule of thumb, treat the web not as your living room but as public space that the world can see what you do. My yardstick is would I feel bad or uncomfortable if my parents saw it? If the answer is yes, it doesn’t go out on the net.
I’m looking forward to Iron Man 2 and Prince of Persia this summer. Caroline is looking forward to Shrek Forever After. We are both looking forward to the Karate Kid, Toy Story 3, and Despicable Me. What movies are you looking forward to? There seem to be fewer Super Hero films this summer than summer pasts. And no I don’t count Johan Hex as a superhero film. I am glad to see How to Train Your Dragon still doing so well. It is a really fun film for both children and adults.
Ok I can feel the coffee starting to work so I will end this for now.
I am grateful for the fact that Caroline amused herself at the bowling alley last night by reading a book.
