I had fun at I-Con yesterday. I did a lot with the kids and took Caroline and her friend around the convention for a bit. It is interesting to take a couple of younger kids through the dealers room at I-Con and have to figure what booths you have to steer them away from or block their view (Hentai t-shirts right there in the front of the booth and, unlike last year, both girls can read now). But it is also interesting to see what they gravitate towards if given the chance. They found the rocket display very interesting but the people behind weren’t either very child-friendly or very girl-friendly which was a shame because they are the perfect age to get interested in that sort of thing. They found the dealers of rocks, meteorites and fossils endlessly fascinating. They like the jewelry and much of the anime stuff that was right for their age group and, of course, the stuffed animals.

I got to talk with friends. (Sorry if I seemed a bit off but I was hopped up on anti-inflammatory and steroids to get through the day so I could walk.) It was fun but today with all that is going on in bowling land, I am not coming back. I didn’t get to see the art show but that was the only thing that I missed.

Peter did OK at the Pro/Am but not as well as he would have liked. He was having a lot of problems getting all the pins (or at least 9 since it was no tap) to fall down. Then one of the pros watched what he was doing and helped him out with how to attack the problem. So thank you to Mr. Todd Book, you made a real difference last night. Peter’s last game was in the 250s. Caroline and I watched and cheered him on. We had the option to stay for a special bowl-off but Caroline was yawning and getting fussy so I brought her home and got her to bed.

Today we are off to the ESPN broadcast at 2:00 for the plastic ball challenge so we might be on TV. Then Peter and, maybe, Caroline will be off to the convention for Peter’s panel. I will be coming home and putting my foot up for a while.

I have some other stuff floating around in my head including a rant that I might have to type up. Short version, websites and BBS are private property with very few exceptions and therefore the people who run it CAN say whether you can participate and what can be on the site because they are on the legal hook for what is on their site.

I am grateful that I did walk the dealers room with the girls.

You didn't miss much. I did the whole thing in less than ten minutes. Very substandard.

Good to see you guys, as always, and our daughter had a great time wandering with you and Caroline! Thanks again for taking her, and for the crafts, and for Stripey and the Unnamed Giraffe. :)
