I-Con 2010 Day 1

They have re-arranged some of the spaces for I-Con but it is a plus if all your panels are in the Student Activity Center but a bit of a minus if you want to go to the dealers room which is all in the gym and the only thing in the sports complex. We really like it so far. I was not put on any panels, not even my usual puppet making panel for kids but considering all the other things we have to do this weekend, that might not be a bad thing.
Yesterday Peter and I took Caroline to see How to Train Your Dragon or Dragons as the new trailers seem to be calling it. Caroline loved it. I really enjoyed it. It is a delightful film. It is not quite what the trailers would have you believe and it is way off from the original book, but it has quite a bit of charm on its own. For the parents reading, there are some scary parts, the hero does get hurt, and there are some father/son dynamics that sort themselves out by the end. We saw it in 3-D and it has an effect that is one of the best I have seen used in a film that was touted as 3-D. I would say kindergarten and up. You do have to follow the plot to enjoy the film.
We are waiting today for the cable tech to come out and see if they can figure out why we are having such break-up problems on all our cable boxes. I think something came loose in that last mega-wind storm since the problem showed up after that. Then we will be off to the convention for the day.
This evening we watch Peter bowl in the Pro-Am and then home for some sleep.
I am grateful for my heel holding up as long as it did.
