I know that I am liking this season much better than last season but it is starting to show its age a bit. I will say that the challenges this season are much better than last season but I miss the WTF challenges like using part of a car interior to design a dress. Hardware store was more thinking outside of the box and figuring out what could be used. They have been doing a lot of unusual materials challenges but it is missing the oomph. And the designers are more clued into what the challenge might be based on previous challenges.

I’m liking Seth Aaron’s fashion sense. He understands the different challenges very well and his sewing skills is probably the best of the bunch. His personality hasn’t registered with me other than slightly annoying but not that annoying. Mila is another that thinks fashion forward but I am concerned that she is a one trick pony with lots of angles. I am sorry that Ping Wu went so early but she wouldn’t have survived the last couple of challenges. Jonathan surprised me last night. I loved the look and the dress was excellently tailored.

Final Three I think with be Jonathan, Seth Aaron, and Maya. I don’t know who will take it yet but those are the most versatile of the group left.

So the new thing in reality TV seems to be hoarding. I guess addiction is so last week as are bounty hunters and deep-sea fisherman. This is a subject that hits a little close to home for me because I do have some hoarding tendencies and I can tell that Caroline does too. I guess we are both going to have to work on that. I get a little scared watching the commercials and seeing the piles of stuff. I have piles of books and papers that need to be sorted and put away. I need to find the time to do it and that can get shuffled to the low end of the cleaning totem pole until it has to be done.

I am grateful that Project Runway is still going.

I used to be a big PR fan, but thanks to last season I've lost my taste for it. Moving to Lifetime, IMO, was their biggest mistake. I did catch the first few episodes of this season, though, and you're right -- it's missing "oomph" or something. It's like they're going through the motions. It no longer holds my interest :sigh:

I am still trying to figure out what is missing this season. Last season was a serious wash for me. The move to LA was not a good one and the show lost more than it gained for doing so.

I am wondering what the numbers are now.

Maybe it is showing its age. It's like with Top Chef -- up until last season I'd never missed an episode. As with PR, I'd caught a couple of them, but there was really nothing there to hold me. I don't think it's the contestants so much as the format -- the same old thing, albeit with different challenges? I'm still trying to figure it out.

When Tim Gunn came to speak at Georgia State last month, he said that the move to LA really did rob the season of its vitality, and he was thrilled that it was back in New York where it belongs. :)

:nodding: I remember reading a quote from him to that effect. Moving to LA was not their best decision. I've heard rumors that they might be going back next season :shudder:

I concur in your assessment of PR this season. I'm very glad that this season's contestants are generally getting along with each other (which makes me wonder if we just got lucky, or if the editors are simply editing strategically in another direction). While I can be quite amused by sniping, it does get old after a while, and it really has to be clever and balanced.

Having a "positive" feel about the show is very nice.

Of course, they're trying to create false drama on Models of PR, instead. Easy enough to do when Alexis was still on, but I'm glad she's not, anymore. "Bitchy and clever" is entertaining. "Bitchy and dumb as a stump" is not.

Did you miss the episode when Seth Aaron was paired with Anthony? Anthony was the team leader, and they as a group were in the bottom two. When asked what he thought of the dress, SA had the opportunity to throw Anthony under the bus, but instead he took ownership of his half. "I stand by this outfit," he said. I agree he can be a little annoying, but he's demonstrated class. They keep trying to make him the Santino/Jeffrey/Wendy, but he's apparently not petty enough to be that.

Agreed with enjoying the "positive" vibe of folks getting along this season. This is the first reality show I've ever watched, so I don't thrive on manufactured drama.

And yes, at several points Seth Aaron has shown himself to be a class act.

I honestly can't tell you why Seth Aaron rubs me the wrong way and I may change my tune down the road but I do remember that he didn't toss Anthony under the bus which was pretty classy. It very well may be the way they are editing it that is annoying me more than the person itself.

And it was nice to see one designer help out another designer because he was done and had the time to help someone so they were almost finished rather than pins and unfinished. Too bad that was the auffed person.

I have been watching this season; I started watching midway through last season, because my niece has been talking about applying to The Fashion Institute of Technology once she graduates high school.

I think the designers this season, as a whole, are of a higher calibre than last season. I am trying very hard not to let personality influence me, but I do have my favourites. I can't really comment on whether the show is showing its age because it's still new and fresh to me.

I have agreed with everyone they've sent home so far except one, and again I think it's more that I dislike the personality more than the design chops.

I missed this week's show and will have to catch it tonight in reruns, even though I know already who was eliminated.

It is nice to see that everyone can sew and can cut and stitch and tailor. Tailoring was seriously missing last season.

I just watched for the first time, a couple of halves of episodes (darn DVR misbehaving) and I found it interesting. Still the judging style, very much like all the other talent shows, grates on my nerves. I want to see the new model show, too.

I have to say, I know he's not always been the best designer in the group, but I love Anthony so much. He cracks me up every time, and he's not afraid to go all out and do what he does. I'd be thrilled to see him at the end, because I think if he had a shot, he'd give even more than some of the others, like ColorBlockGeometric Mila. I'm kind of over her aesthetic, though I like it well enough, because that's all I'm seeing from her.

Maya (or MiniMila) strikes me as the A student who's memorized the textbook--scores really well on tests, but not as original as could be. I could see how Seth Aaron might irritate sometimes, but I've gotten some positive signs from him, and he's certainly quite good at what he does.

Emilio and Jay are all right; it was good of Jay to help out Ben this past week, and I did like Emilio's dress. Ben was a sweetheart, but the suit (especially the nightmare pants) was just a complete dealbreaker. I just wish poor Amy could find the out of the box style she's looking for. At least the judges gave her a little more time.

On the model side--I have to say I'm warming up to Cerri, who modeled for Jonathan in that lovely Laughter/Air dress. (And I admit, I didn't really like Jonathan much before this week, but the created textile and a few other things about his personality are starting to win me over.) Or maybe I just love Cerri's accent and from-the-gut manner. I'm quite pleased that Alexis is gone. Could not stand her, and she wasn't the model that she thought she was by a long shot.

I'm going to have to break down and get a DVR if I'm ever going to stay with PR (and Top Chef and Shear Genius and a few others). I never did see more than part of one episode last season despite trying to catch reruns. Saw a rerun of this season a week or so ago but didn't realize at the time that a new season was on, thought it was from last. But the designers and the challenges I've seen in those bits just haven't grabbed me. In the Bravo years, I was hooked from the first and my husband always made sure to catch at least the runway and judging. (He's not into the construction and such like I am.) I really don't know if the show can be brought back to its former glory or not. You're right on with the challenges and that's a large part of it. :-/
