Counting Down

Ariel moves into her college dorm in 22 days. DragonCon is 30 days away. Caroline starts school in 36 days. Where did the summer go?
Well for starters it didn’t start until after high school graduation which was back on June 26th so we were almost into July before we were into summer vacation. July was all about Shoreleave and San Diego.
August is all about getting ready for DragonCon, College and the new School year along with some birthdays and other family things.
Today Caroline has camp and I am making sure she has water and sunscreen since it is going to be a hot one today. That gives me 4 hours on my own to do something that I can’t do when she is around or rather do something without an interruption. I have learned how to deal with the interruptions but sometimes it is nice that they aren’t there. I think there will be a lot of fabric work this morning.
Peter got a tribble at the SDCC that goes off at the oddest moments. It also freaks one of the three cats out. The cat is looking very suspiciously at it right now.
Off to sort out the day and the rest of the month.
I am grateful that we have these countdowns.

Date: 2009-08-04 02:07 pm (UTC)It has been a fast, busy Summer around here, too. I hope we can find a babysitter that is even half as awesome as Ariel once she's off to college!
Our cat is convinced that a stuffed Hello Kitty controls the (scary!) air conditioning in the house, and cautiously tries to attack when the A/C comes on. :)
Hhope that August is a lovely month for all of you! :)

Date: 2009-08-04 04:12 pm (UTC)Is your tribble starving?
Remember, when your cute, furry friend makes those adorable purring sounds, it may be telling you that it's hungry! The ISPCT (Intergalactic Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Tribbles) has found several cases of tribble neglect, in some cases leading to bar fights.
Tribbles will consume most edible substances, but prefer grains. They enjoy privacy, so you may find that the most convenient method is to take both food supply and tribble and stow them securely in an overhead compartment, preferably one with a hatch for easy access.
The tribble is a self-sufficient creature and may not emerge for some time. If your pet does not come out of its own accord, after two weeks or so have elapsed you may wish to open the hatch to reassure yourself of its well-being.
