Plus Ariel has finished High School. She had her last class Monday. She finished all her Regents Exams last year and her final exams were all in class during the last week. She gets her diploma a week from tomorrow. She could have graduated a year ago but wanted to march with her class. I am proud at how hard she worked in high school.

Caroline’s school is having Spirit Week this week which culminates in Field Day on Friday. Since it is nothing but rain today, I am hoping that the weather is better tomorrow so that the kids can run around for field day. I am going to be in the Library performing a twisted version of the Three Little Pigs with the school librarian who is also a puppeteer.

They have had themes all week to show their Spirit. Monday Caroline wore her clothing inside out. Tuesday she wore a silly hat and had her spring concert which we saw. Wednesday was dress as your favorite character day and she went as Ariel since that is her big sister’s name. Today was Pajama day and she has on her favorite Incredible pajamas. She has been looking forward to PJ day since I told her about it. Tomorrow she is on the Red Team.

I had to explain to her that she wasn’t keeping the same teacher next year. She wasn’t very happy about that. She likes her current teacher a lot. But she is excited that she will be in first grade next year.

She has grown so much this year. She knew her alphabet going in but now she is reading to me. She could count to 20 to start the year. Now she is able to count to over 1000 and is doing simple arithmetic. She loves to work through thing by scientific method. She enjoys doing experiments. She made a log about the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to butterfly in which she recorded her findings both visually and in writing. She is sucking up knowledge like a sponge.

This summer I want to keep her going forward. She is joining the reading program at the library and has summer camp twice a week. She is also going to be taking swimming lessons to continue her quest to swim without help. I am going to be taking her in the city for various field trips during the summer.

I am grateful that Caroline had such a successful year in Kindergarten.

Congrats to Ariel on graduation!

Congrats to Caroline on first year of school. May her curiosity never wane, but expand exponentially.

Hopefully her first grade teacher will be to her liking. I remember knowing I was going to have a different teacher for first grade, but I also was expecting there to be different vowels in first grade. I thought they changed every year. Eh, se la guerre.

But I've been a rather voracious reader since then, and it looks like Caroline is on her way to doing the same. Yaay!

I'm so glad Caroline had a great Kindergarten year too. And congrats to Ariel! Whoo hoo! She's graduating -- that's awesome. Where is she going to college?

Congratulations Caroline!! I remember when my kids graduated from Kindergarten, it was huge for all of us. And they weren't happy about losing their teachers either. :smiles:

Ahhh this brings back memories.
