Girl Scout Day at the Local Game Farm

I am taking Caroline to a Girl Scout function with her troop at a local game farm. It should be fun since the rain seems to have moved out and there is a nice breeze with the day. She loves animals so this will be fun for her. I plan to take a lot of pictures.

Girl Scouts is very important to me. I was a Girl Scout and my mother was a Girl Scout. Now, today, Caroline is going to bridge up from Daisy to Brownie. She is joining her mother and her grandmother in what I will now call a tradition. And if she has a daughter down the road (long way down the road), I hope that her scouting experience makes her want to enroll her daughter in Girl Scouts.

Caroline really wants to go camping. I might check out the local camping grounds and see if we might be able to do an overnight with some hiking. She can't go to an overnight Girl Scout camp until she is at least 8. Camping was my favorite part of Girl Scouting.

I am grateful that Caroline wants to be a Girl Scout.

I was a girl scout and so was my mom. I loved it growing up, but once I hit cadettes, the troop leader was just AWFUL. She didn't care about coming or being our leader... all she cared about was that her precious daughter made her silver and gold awards. Made me sick...

And omg I will buy a thousand boxes of cookies every year from my daughter too... haha

I was a Girl Scout for 5 years, and a scout troop leader for 5 years. I never did go camping with the scouts, not as a kid and not as a leader. And **I** was ok with that. I went camping with **my** kids when I was an adult, but taking an entire scout troop camping is too much like real work!
