Len Wein’s house caught on fire. No way to sugar coat that. He, Christine and Michael are fine. They lost their dog Sheba. Harlan has the details of what happened on his board.

Len Wein created Wolverine among other characters at Marvel. Hugh Jackman owes his movie career to Len and has said so on more than one occasion. He lost all his original art included the cover to Giant Size X-Men #1. Right now there is not much we can do except think good thoughts for the family. Harlan said that he would make sure we got an idea of what they needed after everything gets sorted out.

Len and Chris are good people. I have spent time with Len while he is signing at conventions since he is seated next to Peter a lot of the time. It is fun to get Len, Marv, and Peter together at a convention. You just sit back and listen to the banter.

Caroline and I are off on an Airplane down to Atlanta today. I have a few last minute packing things to do and we will be ready to go. I am a bit tense but I always am about travel especially when I have no control over the means of transport. Caroline is very excited and looking forward to seeing her grandparents. Cell phones have made it easier to navigate airports and transport.

I am grateful that Len and family made it out of the fire. It could have been much worse.

I'm so sorry to hear about the puppy, but I'm very glad Len and his family made it out okay.

Sending good thoughts their way. It's awful that they lost Sheba, but thank God the rest of them are safe.

I'm glad they're OK. This is awful news, and a terrible situation to be in.

I spent my teenage years being seriously freaked out by Wein's work on Swamp Thing. I wish him and his family well.

Damn. I don't care who you are, that's tragic. I hate going back to Webderland for bad news. Maybe in a few days or weeks there will be something we can do for them.
