Traffic down had some lovely jams that we avoided by using our GPS. That thing has paid for itself in time and nerves saved.
The convention is at a new hotel so this is the first run on a lot of things. So far there haven't been any major snafus but it is taking some getting use to. The dealers room is an the Atrium along with one of the stages. Today is going to be the real test for the show but I am not worried since this group has been putting on this show in one form or another for 25 years now.
We arrived and unpacked the car. I put my art in the art show and caught up on news with a number of people. Ariel and I attended the banquet since Peter is still recovering from his stomach aliment.
This con is one of those family cons. You come here enough, you're family. There were a number of conventions in the south that had the same feel for me when I was growing up. Speaking of people from conventions where I grew up, it is always fun to see Herb who I have known since I was just a teenager. We catch up on family news and life in general.
Caroline was happy to see Ariel's friends who like to play with her. She had a grand time with them. After Ariel went out with her buddies a.k.a. the Scooby Gang, I finally got Caroline to calm down and go to sleep in pretty short order.
Today I think I have some panels. My badge doesn't reflect so but the con committee said that they scheduled me for stuff. If not I'll hang around with my friends and get ready for this evening's Masquerade. The costumes are done now I just have to do the make-up and get the last minute details in place.
More on that tomorrow. Heeheeheehee.
I am grateful that we did get down here in fairly decent time.
