A few Monsterous Thoughts

I have been looking around the Internet at various stuffed animals that seem to be popular. There are books now on making types of dolls very popular in Japan and now in the US. One of the more popular authors seems to be Aranzi Aronzo who has had a number of books published here in the US. There also seems to be a trend to ugly dolls and ugly monsters.

I'm good at making monsters. It is sort of a forte of mine. I have had these ideas for a while of some stuff I could do to sell at conventions and on-line maybe.

The question becomes how to promote these critters. Because of the new safety laws, I can't market to or for children so I have an adult market to look for.

I am really good at promoting the work of other people but I stink at promoting myself. I have all these mad skills and abilities but I can't seem to put myself out there. A lot of people find out what I can do almost by accident. And it is something I am going to have to change.

So in the coming weeks I am going to be talking more about what I will be showing at the Farpoint Art Show and the stuff I would like to sell on the Internet. Yes, I will be promoting myself for a change.

I am grateful for trends I might be able to capitalize on.

I know what you mean. I think everyone who makes collector's "toys" or art is kind of on hold now. I hate not being able to plan new products because of the uncertainty.
