Christmas Day 2008

puppetmakerThe drive was long but we are here. Virginia seemed to take up most of the trip but I'll let Peter tell that tale.
The presents are under the tree with care. We are waiting for my brother and sister to get here so Caroline can start to open presents I gave her two to start with. One was on her list to Santa (a stuffed Bolt dog) and one was not (a princess hairbrush that talks to you as you brush your hair.) Under the tree is a couple of things that she asked Santa for including a Charlie and Lola doll and Lola's dog Sizzles.
Then we feast on Eggs Benedict as only my mother can make it. And this evening we have rare roast beast (beef tenderloin) along with as many Christmas cookies as our bellies can hold.
The movie of the day has not been decided yet. We are leaning towards the Tale of Despereaux but that is not set in stone.
Last night Peter and I watched the brilliant film Slumdog Millionaire. We were not quite sure what to expect but found ourselves rapidly caught up in the film. Best film I have seen this year so far. I think this one is going to influence filmmakers for years to come. The cast is incredible too. Highly recommended but know that there is violence through out and some rather stomach churning scenes as the movie progresses but none of it is gratuitous, it rather serves the story well.
I hope you are having a good Holiday whatever you celebrate at this time of the year. Hug your loved one and tell them that you love them. Don't sweat the small stuff it is only small stuff. And remember yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift which is why we call it the present.
