It's My 45th Birthday!

And we have some fun things planned for me to do today.
40 years ago I was 5 and going to Kindergarten with not much thought to the future. I was more about the day to day things and my baby brother Sean who had just joined our family.
30 years ago I was 15 and thought a lot about what I wanted to do when I grew up. I found some of my old journals from then recently. It is interesting to see what was important to me then and what I had hoped for the future. Amazingly some of it did come to pass which I find pretty cool. I also had all the usual teen angst going. I wonder how my parents put up with me at the time.
20 years ago I was finishing up at the Yale School of Drama. My mind was on getting another job as a stage manager and finishing my master's thesis which I did. I was stage managing my thesis show which was directed by the late Dennis Scott. We were doing Miss Julie by Stringberg which was my second time stage managing that show. I had a third chance a couple of years later for a pretty prestigious theater company but passed because I just couldn't do that show again.
10 years ago was my first birthday I celebrated with Peter. He made it a very nice day for me. I got nifty presents and a good dinner at a restaurant that became our place to go and have dinner together. He made me feel special.
5 years ago Caroline was my world and I was happy to be taking care of her. Peter made sure that I got to sleep in that morning and we did things around the house together. That weekend we had some friends over for a small party which was very nice. They bought me the wireless router that I use to this day.
Today Peter let me sleep in but I got up to take care of Caroline because I woke up. We have a few things planned including a nice lunch. This evening I will be going to the school for meet the teachers night and then onto a train to the city for the Midtown Comics signing for the new Dark Tower comic book that is coming out tomorrow.
I am grateful for all the birthdays I have had.
