Happy Birthday to Ariel who is now 17. It was yesterday but we are traveling so I didn't get to write that here. She got sushi for dinner and a lovely cake from the best bakery in the area. She also received some items from DragonCon that she really wanted.
We are home. Took a little long than we would have liked but we are safe and the cats are happy to see us. Really happy to see us. I am being snuggled to death by cats. Which is strange because I know they got lots of scritches and attention. I guess they are just happy to see me again.
Our Internet is not talking to our wireless router and I am at my wits end as to how to get the two to talk to each other. There was a power out that wiped the DSL box and we had to reset the password. Now the Wireless doesn't have the same password so it won't talk to the DSL box. I have been trying to get my router to talk to my computer so I can get it to play nice with the DSL. Can't seem to get it done. I am on a Mac trying to get it to talk to my Netgear.
The drive back would have been shorter IF there the road hadn't been closed due to a 5 car crash that closed the interstate we were on. My sympathies to the family of the young man who was killed in the collision. So we had to detour which added a couple of hours onto the trip. Kudos to Ariel and Caroline for being champions of the ling drive. Not a complaint from either of them the whole time.
We have unpacked the car. Today I plan to start the laundry. My mother made my life so much easier by doing all of Caroline's so she has all her good clothes for the first day of school. Now I have to make sure that Ariel has the clothes she wants to wear for the first day of her Senior year.
I have lots of thoughts about these past two weeks which I will be writing about most of this week I think. In between I will be recovering the house from all the travel we have done.
I am grateful to have at least gotten the Internet connection working on one computer.

Date: 2008-09-03 02:23 pm (UTC)Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the splendid Ariel, with whom I had a really enjoyable conversation at the party-where-people-weren't. She is somethin' else, that girl. Somethin' else.

Date: 2008-09-03 03:11 pm (UTC)Have you actually gone to the admin console on the router?
Most routers have a fixed address of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0.
Sorry if you've already tried this.

Date: 2008-09-03 03:37 pm (UTC)Hook the internet into the router and the network cable from the router to the computer.
So in goes into the router and out goes into the computer.
Then type the IP address into your browser and change the settings.

Date: 2008-09-03 04:14 pm (UTC)It was a great con. It seems with the addition of the 4th hotel to not be as crowded in the Hyatt, or anywhere for that matter.
Glad you made it home safely and that you all had a great time!
