I did something I have never done while bowling. I belly flopped onto the lanes. I was going for my approach just like normal when my left foot stuck. I got the ball off my hand and then went down onto the lanes. I knew I was falling so I tucked my shoulder like I was taught to a long time ago and landed hard with a little but of skid due to the oil on the lanes. Banged up one knee and a shoulder but I was able to finish out the game. I did get a strike on the ball that did count since it is not a sanctioned league. I'm a little sore this morning and can see where some of the bruises are going to come in.

So Brett Farve is a Jet now. Can't say that I am not surprised but I think it is a boner move on the Jets part. And considering what the details of the deal were, I don't see how this is going to benefit the Jets for the long term and frankly for the short term either.

One of the nice things about living in a town where a lot of the businesses are locally owned is that when you have a problem, you get a pretty fast response. I think part of it is that there is no large corporate structure to go through. You call up and tend to get the owner who makes sure that the job is done. We had some house ants in the kitchen. One or two we chalk up to the usual wildlife but we had a stream of them and in new places as well. So we called our local guys who do a good job and take care of the bugs with stuff that is not harmful to our pets or young children. They also checked the termite traps we have around the house and re-baited those that needed it.

Today I need to make some bodies and start on the prep work for some puppets. There are gluing things that need 24 hours to dry before I can take it to the next step. I also need to make my demo blinking eyeballs for DragonCon.

I am grateful that there was not more damage from the fall.

I think my pride took a bigger hit than my body.

At least I didn't land in the gutter.

Yeah, that would have been embarrassingly horrible and painful.

Thank you. I have had worse. This is going to be ugly but not that painful. *grin*

. . . Ow?

I'm glad you were able to get up and walk away from it. It sounds as if you did all the right things. But what did your foot get stuck on?

That is the mystery of the whole thing. They checked my shoe and it was clean. I brushed it to make sure. We checked the lanes before anyone else went down the approach and there was nothing there. But my foot did stick hard. I think that my sole got wet and that stopped me.

*grin* I'm sure someone is studying the mysteries of why some songs are particularly sticky earworms...although I suspect there's no cure but the ones we already know anyway! :)

Ouch - glad you didn't suffer any serious injuries from your fall, and at least the strike counted!

Speaking of D*C, my hubby [livejournal.com profile] knightaudit and I will be there, and if you and Peter have the time one evening we'd love to meet up and treat you guys to dinner! Just let me/us know your schedule and hopefully we can work something out. :)

Meet up we can probably do. Meals are a little tricker because we have panels up the ying=yang all three days but once I work out the final, I'll check back with you.

Wow. Isn't that a Fred Flinstone move?

Suddenly I want to do a Paul Simon marathon listening session.

Oh I had totally forgotten about that. But I think he went backwards and I went forwards.

I so love Paul Simon.

oh man, I hate sticking / falling down the lanes. It also sucks when it's because the BALL sticks and lands with that hard thud and no speed. Know what I mean?

In a league I was in last summer, I somehow got oil on my shoes, so I made the approach, fell, got a strike, then did it AGAIN the next frame.

I was so freaked about falling again that I bowled like crap the rest of the night, went and got rental shoes, and apparently it had lasting consequences because now I stop too far away from the line.

Still, I love the sport and c'mon TWO STRIKES while falling on my ass? That's gotta be worth something.

:)

I hope it doesn't bruise too badly.

Ouch, sounds painful.

I agree, you gotta love a small town for service.
