Rather I heard the thunder and it rumbled on and off for most of yesterday. Longest stretch was a three hour block in the early afternoon. We had a couple of storms that dropped a lot of rain very fast and the lighting was rather close too. Something did happen but we are not sure what since we heard the volunteer siren go off at the firehouse and a couple of trucks went by the house towards the water. I figure it will filter up to the neighborhood or I'll ask one of the guys at bowling what was going on. I'm figuring it was weather -related.

With the band of storms and some other heavy weather hitting through out the country, Peter's flight was cancelled. He is re-booked to get back tomorrow. Caroline had another melt down about her lack of Daddy but Peter was able to talk to her on the phone and assure her that everything was all right and he would be home soon. She is not really letting me out of her sight right now and I do understand. I do find it interesting that she has been rather sanguine about people traveling until recently.

There were a number of drowning deaths around Long Island this weekend. It was a few more than usual and just shows how dangerous even staying close to shore a riptide can be. One bad step and the currents can take over. There have been warnings up and down the beaches about the change in the surf due to the weather. I don't know if the high number of people drowning is bad luck or people figuring that they can handle what is out there. I learned at an early age that when you get that kind of warning, you don't ignore it or assume that you can handle it. The ocean is a force of nature and we are a lot smaller than it. The lifeguards are not putting out the red flags for their health.

At Disney there was in Epcot a ride in Spaceship Earth (the giant Geo-ball) that was sponsored by AT&T called Global Neighborhood which talked about communication through the ages. When we got into the future section of the ride there was a display of a woman talking to another woman. One of the women was in Japan and the other was in the US and they were talking on a Video phone to each other.

Last night we created our own version of that scenario with the iChat. Shana is in Japan right now. Caroline and Ariel had a very nice video chat with her. The picture quality was great on both sides and I think the girls had a lot of fun with the visit. It is amazing that we can now talk all over the globe with both voice and picture.

I am grateful that the girls got together and talked last night and was amazed that we were still in Sunday while Shana was already starting Monday.

Did you know they redid the ride? Same song but they added things and removed others that had been there since it was at the world's fair. I am not sure I need Stitch singing along to that song.

We had hail yesterday afternoon! And rain so heavy it forced us off the highway. Of course, this happened right after I'd hung a load of laundry out to dry...

Ain't that always the way?

I was going to clean cat boxes yesterday and right after I got the materials I needed, the skies opened up.

Heh. In the case of cleaning cat boxes, that's sort of a blessing in disguise...or at least an ironclad excuse to procrastinate!

Which is one reason why they updated the ride - it stopped being "in the future" and became "things people do today"!*g*

True.

I am so expecting to see Dick Tracy's video phone wristwatch any day now.
