It is amazing how one incident can change your whole day.

We had planned to see two films. Ariel was going to take Caroline (and their American Girl Dolls) to see Kitt Kittrage while Peter and I were going to see Hancock. The movie times were perfect for this.

I sat down with my usual morning cup of coffee and had started a blog entry and wondered if anyone had notices that I hadn't been blogging recently. Peter was sleeping in because he had worked late the night before

Caroline was bopping around until Peter came down and then she complained that her hand was hurt. The little finger on her right hand was very inflamed. It was hot to the touch and she couldn't bend it because it was so swollen. I thought she had jammed it until I saw the other major welts on her body. Something or things had bit her several times. And they were radiating which of course sends off all kinds of bells in parent's brains.

So this morning was about buying pants for Ariel for bowling camp which she will be attending this next week and Caroline seeing a Doctor for her boo-boos (as she put it). Caroline's regular Doctor was not available so we went to the on-call doctor who was able to see us.

They are insect bites of some form but he is not concerned about the radiating pattern. So she is on an antihistamine for the next 24 hours and then as needed. We have stuff to put on the boo-boos and she is currently taking a nap on the couch next to me.

Poor little girl.

It is now quarter to three and the day not what I expected it to be.

I am grateful that nothing worse than a bad reaction to an insect bite.

Ouch, sorry to hear it. I'm glad it's nothing more severe, though--we're all too familiar with the "oh sh*t, what's that?" heart attack.

Yep.

She has had insect bites before but these were WAY out of the norm.

Amen to that. This week for us has been like how today has been for your family. One incident can totally flip your world upside-down. One moment, he's having difficulty sleeping at night due to coughing, the next, he's potentially having congestive heart failure. At the age of 30. Today, he's doing fine, aside from waiting for Monday's angio.

*sends hugs and soothing oatmeal baths for the poor kiddo*
Very scary stuff for a parent (or child, for that matter). Spider bites, perhaps?

EDIT:
Health scares? Really put things into perspective.

I so agree.

I'm glad he is doing better and got to the hospital before major damage was done.

That's no fun. Maybe some cosmic power decided you needed to stay home and nap today. At least somebody did!

I think it was Caroline who is all curled up under her princess blankie with a cat watching over her.

Yep. Just when she thinks she has this living thing figured out, a curve ball is thrown at her.

Now we just have to make sure that the bullseyes gets smaller rather than larger.

Whew. I hate that sort of thing!
Will had a mysteriously malfunctioning foot yesterday, but seems all better today, thank goodness. I suspect a bad twist/very, very mild sprain, perhaps. Blah.

Glad that Will is OK.

Kids will surprise you with what they can do to their bodies and how fast their bodies can repair themselves. *grin*

She is doing better this evening.

Each mark the Doctor made is showing a reduction in the inflamation which is what we wanted. She can finally bend her little finger again.

Yikes! I am very glad to know that she's okay!

Thanks.

She is doing just fine. Her appetite is normal as is her energy level. Now If I could just keep her from scratching.....

Yowch! Poor Caroline. And poor panicked parents. I'm glad to hear it's going to be okay.

She is much better now. The irritation is reducing at a good rate.

Usually Peter is use to this sort of thing but he had never seen anything like her poor finger this morning.

To say the least. I'll probably have more to say later but right now I have to feed the kidlet.

Oh poor Caroline!! I would've completely freaked out at the radiating pattern! I hope that she's feeling better! *hugs*

She is much better this morning. Her little finger is almost back to normal. She can bend it again with minimal discomfort.

Thank you.

Poor little poppet. Jennifer once had a staph infection reaction to spider bites, and it was nasty.

We're keeping an eye on her but the crises seems to be over.
The big thing is not letting her scratch the bites which she understands but still wants to scratch the itchies.
