Personally, when I heard "most faithful companion", my immediate thought was "Not K-9!".

"Everlasting death" is an interesting phrase, isn't it? It suggests more than a normal death--more like a death that continues. Like someone dying over and over again for all eternity. Coupled with the whole "the loss that is to come" bit, and "You're something new," I wonder if Donna's going to get stuck somehow--frozen forever in a second of time, just out of synch with everything and everyone. Forever.

Anyway, just rambling/theorizing. I doubt they'll get rid of the Tardis, though--it would be the same as getting rid of Superman or Spidey's red-and-blue costumes. Yes, it happened to both of them but it didn't last because fans want certain elements to always remain. The Tardis is at the core of who the Doctor is, and of what the show is about.

Well, there's the TARDIS Jack is growing in the Torchwood Hub to take its place. :)

The novels actually did destroy the TARDIS. Paul Cornell destroyed it in The Shadows of Avalon. The replacement TARDIS was the Doctor's companion, Compassion. She was genetically engineered to receive radio waves and transform her biodata in accordance with them, and the TARDIS changed Compassion from a post-human into a TARDIS. That kicked off a story arc where Romana wanted to track down the Doctor so she could capture Compassion and force breed War TARDISes from her for the coming War.

However, the TARDIS got better. It took the better part of a century for it to grow back, but get better it did.

My theory on Donna is that she is the TARDIS. Or the essence of the TARDIS. Or the living personification of the Heart of the TARDIS. I think she's something that Rose created in "Parting of the Ways." She wasn't aware of it. And a false reality coalesced around the person that she created.

I didn't know that about the novels. Interesting.

I saw you post your theory elsewhere. :) It's not bad, but the problem is Davies already did the "Spirit of the Tardis" trick with Rose. I don't think he'll repeat himself. I also think Donna was completely normal until the whole Huon particles business. But I think that just primed her to become something more, and it was the alternate-universe trip that set things off for real.

I guess we'll find out next week. :)

I think it was in Turn Left that Rose told Donna she'd been different since birth.

I've heard this theory before. I imagine it'll just be a cop-out and Rose dies.

I've got a wacky theory, myself, that the Doctor's hand will screw with his regeneration and make two Doctors, one of which will be Tennant. And one of the Doctors will die.

I further believe Donna will pull a Dalek Caan and somehow open a portal to the Time War and go insane, thus her destiny and loss and stuff. Either that or she's fobwatched Romana. In any case I believe the Doctor is bringin' sexy Gallifrey back.
