I have noticed something about the New Who season. For the most part you have a couple of decent episodes that make you want to watch and then you have an episode that makes it so you MUST WATCH the rest of the season and the show kicks to another level.

For the first season, it was engaging my interest and then we had "Dalek" and I was totally hooked on Who again. For the second season it was moving along and I was enjoying it and then came "School Reunion" and I believed in the power of RTD. Last season I was enjoying myself even though fans were kvetching about this and that and then "Human Nature" came along and rocked my universe and the universe kept rocking all the way through the end of the season.

This year I have, again, enjoyed the show so far but this one kicked it up to the next level. Good acting, an interesting situation, and some companions who are problem solvers rather than screamers. Screaming worked way back when and there is a certain cheesy factor to it that is fun to watch but my two old Who favorites were Sarah Jane and Ace with Romana coming in a close third.

And yes the title character leads to some interesting discussion about what it is to be a time lord and what is a time lord.

I am grateful for air cool as it is called in "Driving Miss Daisy" and many parts of the south.

Show of hands, how many of you don't know that David Tennant is dating Georgia Moffett who played Jenny in this episode and is the daughter of Peter Davison? And how many are kinda squicked out by it even though there is nothing wrong with it because they are only relatives on a TV show? How about the fact that the actor who played Greg Brady dated the woman who played his mom on the Brady Bunch?

All that aside, I thought she was brilliant as Jenny in this episode. Just the right touch of humor and slight confusion to make Jenny just a great character and a memorable one.

I liked the Doctor having to deal with what was done to him and the consequences to it. I also like how the writers have continued to write Donna with strong opinions of her own that allows her to make a case for her point of view on the matter. She doesn't role over and say "Yes Doctor. Since you have been around the block more than a few time I trust what you say over anyone else." It was well played in the cell where she gets the Doctor to look at both Jenny and himself in another way.

And then there was the scene after Jenny got shot and both Donna and Martha are telling the Doctor that he was right and she was not a time lord or not enough of a time lord to regenerate. I had a slight problem with the writing here since Donna had worked so hard to make the Doctor see Jenny as his daughter but the emotion of the scene played so well I didn't think about the flaws until the next day.

One other thing that is niggling at the back of my brain, how many jobs has Donna had in her day? Has she always been a temp? I know it is convenient for plot points but I'm starting to feel it a bit overused but then that may be me.

But overall this one was great and continues to be great on subsequent viewing.

I saw that about him dating Georgia Moffet, and was kinda squicked by it too. She's only 22, and he's closer to 40 than she is to 30. [shrug] I know I used to date much older men, but from this side of the fence, it seems just...creepy now.

He does seem to have a thing for co-stars, though. He had been in a relationship with the lovely woman from "Girl in the Fireplace." I guess it's tough when you're working all the time to meet people -- you wind up meeting people at work.

I"m a bit confused about the same area you're confused about with her not being "enough of a Time Lord" (Lady?)

Well, I always figured that being a Time Lord was more than just racial. After all, there were plenty of Gallifreyans who weren't Time Lords that lived outside the domes, as I recall. I figured it was something granted to you after graduation or something.

Yeah, right there with ya with the squicking. But I'd only heard about the dating after I saw the episode. (I was also a little surprised because I thought David Tennant was gay.)

There was a lot of speculation over who she could be or where she would've come from before the episode aired. Not knowing her clone origins, I'd hoped that maybe this would be Susan's mother and we'd hear what became of her. So I was a little disappointed when I saw that she was a newly created daughter. That aside, I had an instant crush on Jenny as soon as I saw her. I hope to see her again soon.

Hee! I didn't know all that, but I don't mind. :)

I am totally four because I am happy her name is Jenny. ;)

I think it is completely in Donna's character for her to have been a temp forever, actually. I can completely see her pretty much endlessly job-hopping.

I'm glad she woke up!

I loved this episode.

It was the best of the Doctor, Martha and Donna as people and companions and characters.

Just awesome.
