Short version now. Longer version later when I have some time.

Overall I really liked it. I thought Kylie did a great job as Astra Peth. It was a good Doctor Who version of the Poseidon Adventure .

I am grateful that Doctor Who is starting up in the Americas.

I thought the special effects in this one were top notch, but I was not impressed with Kylie Minogue. I'm not sure whether this was because Astrid - whose name is an anagram of TARDIS, and there's no lack of speculation going on about THAT - was not as fully realized a character as I'd have liked, or because Kylie was phoning it in. I liked much of the rest of the supporting cast, though. It was cool that the snotty privileged guy survived, but *didn't* have some sort of revelation and vow to Mend His Ways Henceforth. Heh.

I liked Astrid. But I've also been a fan of Kylie's since the 80s. I don't think she was "phoning it in" per se, but playing the role of the "oh gee wow" mixed with "crap, we're all gonna die" rather well.

I've seen "phoning it in" before, hell, I watched Season 8 of SG-1. Richard Dean Anderson, THAT was phoning it in.

Kylie? Not so much.

Speculation that Kylie may have been "phoning it in" is IMO; it certainly doesn't have to be yours.

It's possible that someone who sat down and watched Richard Dean Anderson's season 8 SG-1 performance would have a different level of tolerance for such things than I do. *g*

I enjoyed it but kept thinking, "You know, I liked this better the first time when it was called Robots of Death."

2 quick questions.

1) Are you going to watch them on Sci-Fi or get the BBC version? ( now that we get them about 3 weeks later.)

2) are you watching Torchwood or the Sarah Jane Smith's Adventures at all?
