Superbowl Sunday 2008

I can hear the screams by the advertisers who convince us that alcohol is always a good idea (but please drink responsibly). After the Super Bowl ads dust has cleared, their next "good time" target is Mardi Gras which happens to be this Tuesday. The next one they do to death after that is St. Pat's Day which is not until March. So it is going to be a very long February for the ad agencies.
We have our snacks ordered from various local restaurants which we will pick up before people come over.
The house is in good order. There is a little more picking up to do in the kitchen and I have to recover the Living Room from Caroline again which is very do-able.
I am finally over what was either a flu-like bug or food poisoning. It has been a miserable 48 hours for me. But this morning I almost feel human again.
Everyone have a good day and be safe. You know how I worry.
I am grateful for other people doing the cooking for me.

Date: 2008-02-03 05:19 pm (UTC)A college dormmate once said "When are they just gonna say 'This college football game is brought to you by BEER!'?"
And around the same time I heard a radio commercial with a chorus of guys shouting "Beer!" and I thought "They sound like Terry Gilliam yelling "Beans!"
Everyone have a good day and be safe. You know how I worry.
My feet and my bus pass will serve me well today when I go out for a film fest (yes I'm skipping the Super Bowl for the first time in years, I think in fact the first time this decade). I'm lucky; Portland's a good walking town.

Word. I'm letting a theater-pub feed me today!

Date: 2008-02-03 05:39 pm (UTC)We're staying in for the game, and Crystal is bringing home pizza from work. No boozing it up for us! The most dangerous thing I'm doing today is going shopping to stock up on more soup and drinkables.

Date: 2008-02-03 09:45 pm (UTC)I like your take on handling the snackage. I enjoy cooking/messing around in the kitchen -- when I'm in the right mood -- but the frantic clean-up before people come over takes the joy right out of it. It's just us this year so yay for wallowing in bagged chips, jarred salsa, and whatever else he brings home after golf. *grin*
