LJ Idol 4.8 What the New Year Will Bring

I always spend the last week of the year thinking about both past and present. I also think long the same lines the week before my birthday since that is really MY new year rather than an imposed date.
Things I know that the New Year will Bring
1)Various forms of weather. I know that in the New Year I will see some snow, rain, wind, sun, and fog. I am hoping that I don't see any disastrous weather in my area and I hope that areas that need rain get the amount they need.
2)Political ads on TV here in America. Yep. Gonna see a lot of those this year. I am hoping that they will not get too vicious but I am not holding my breath on that. I am grateful for our political process considering the amount of say that other people have in their political system but I don't like the long journey to the actual election.
3) 8 new works by my Husband will be published and one by me. We did a count the other day and two of them are original works (Tigerheart and Mascot). He and I will have short stories in an anthology together. There are a couple of other things in the hopper
4) Costumes. I will be making at least one if not more. I always say at the end of the summer THAT'S IT and by January I am planning for the next group.
5) New Challenges. Life is anything but predictable and in that chaos comes which I would rather not deal with but know I must
6) New Joy. I know that something next year will make me smile ear to ear and I can't say that I have said that every year
Things I would like to have happen in the New Year
1) Peter's books do well and get optioned for film and for that to happen...
2) The Writer's Strike to be over so an impediment on our income goes away. Of course I only want that under fair circumstances for the writers and not another cave-in like 1988.
3) My Puppets and Dolls start to sell to the point that I can declare the income on a tax return and not have the accountant laugh
4) I sell my novel for a reasonable amount of money
5) My Friends have a really good year in 2008 considering what a number of us went through in 2007
6) Troops coming home to their family and friends without the next deployment hanging over their heads
Things I would like NOT to have happen in the New Year
1) More close friends die. I am tired of going to funerals and sending out sympathy cards
2) Another war anywhere with anyone again anyone
3) More Troops in various places that the US is currently in
4) More Bad Health News for friends and family. Again we had our lion's share in 2006/7
5) Any more financial screw-ups for both friends and family.
6) Stupid Law Suits. I am amazed at some of the ones I have been reading about or hearing about first hand.
But over all I have a positive feeling about 2008 and am looking forward to seeing what the New Year will bring. Another thing I want to do in 2008 is continue in LJ Idol so consider voting for me when the vote goes up Friday Jan. 4th 2008.

Date: 2008-01-03 02:54 am (UTC)I really just need to get my carp together and I can probably sell a lot of them. Promotion is my hardest hurdle.

I guess it's just been so long it seems like they'll never come home and the war will never end. But the image popped into my head of what it will be like when they do return home...the glorious joy that will swirl throughout this country....it brings me hope :)
