That is How many Days until Christmas?

I think I lose track of time because when December rolls around I am concentrating on Caroline's birthday rather than the end of the month. So as of Monday, we have two weeks to get ready. Well less than because of travel time. Fortunately, we have our house sitter in place so the cats and other things that need to be done will be done so that is one things down and a hundred to go.

Today all I have to get through is Caroline's party. I have it pretty much planned out with the usual wiggle room to allow kids to be kids. It is going to be a small party but I think that is better at this point in her life for both her and me. I even have a few crafty activities planned including the kids making Paper Bag Puppets and finger puppets. We'll see how it goes.

Tomorrow I have a few projects I want to start on. I think I have my list in order. It will be the first time in a long time that cleaning the house is not on my list because it is in such good shape right now. I may do the "clean one drawer of cabinet" idea because I am at that point and the drawers could really use it. Either that or rebuild the bread drawer.

I am grateful that we are ready for the party.

Hope the party goes swimmingly!

I feel pretty good in that I finally started my Sooper Seekrit Project for Christmas. I'll be making signs for the family - wood signs with a wood burner and water colors. Dad had wanted a Neon sign which read "Mike's Live Bait & Sushi" but that's pretty cost prohibitive, so I'm doing the wooden alternative. Then decided to make one for mom & for my sister & her partner. Provided I can handle the wood burner well and remember how to watercolor, this might turn out well. But at least I have the designs done now! :-)

I had to read this statement twice. The first time, the meaning I perceived was that you had less than two weeks to get ready for Christmas because of TIME TRAVEL.

I know Peter is a successful and accomplished writer, but it seemed unlikely to me that he'd mastered that particular sf/fantasy skill IRL.

Speaking as someone with a December 7th birthday, my family never did anything about xmas until after my birthday as a matter of both course and principle. OK, back in pre-VCR/DVD days, there was an exemption for watching any of Grinch, Peanuts, or Rudolph tv specials, and for going through the Sears Wish Book to make our lists (which was also used in my case for birthday present shopping), but that was it.
