I will admit now publicly that one of my guilty pleasures in life is Project Runway. I will also admit that I am a late comer to the series having picked it up in the middle of season 3 and since then have watched my way through the marathons that are shown from time to time (a lot of times) on Bravo. Ariel and I like watching it together and discussing what we see on the runway.

This current season is 3 episodes into its run. So far the challenges have been making a garment that reflects your vision as a designer out of about 50,000 dollars of fabric, designing an outfit for Sarah Jessica Parker's new clothing line, and making an outfit for Tiki Barber.

Each has had their challenges. For the first there was very little structure and a lot of grabs for fabric. In the second, they had to work in teams of two which of course brought the personalities out and about to play. And the most recent they had to design men's wear which had most of them throwing up their hands and praying for luck, help and a decent pattern that would fit a man who is concerned that his butt doesn't look big on TV.

The men's wear one was one that I could really wrap my head around. I have not made many dresses in my time. Most of my costumes do not involve dresses. I have learned the magic skill of tailoring men's patterns to fit women which is a great one for a costumer to have up their sleeve so this challenge was made for me. I could look at what they were doing with the critical eye of "been there and done that". And honestly there is not that big a difference between men's and women's wear just a different shape to work with. The people with the advantage on this one were those who had to deal with fitting both men and women. I almost wish now that they would do a season of Project Runway that was nothing but designing men's fashion.

I don't think the right person was eliminated last night but I think it was the right call in terms of having fulfilled the terms of that challenge. Carmen did not finish her pieces. Nothing was done on the slacks, jacket or shirt (there was no shirt). The only advantage Ricky had was that his outfit was more finished. And part of the challenge is to produce a finished look to go down the runway. If Ricky continues to sob his way to the bottom of the pack, I don't think he is going to get much further. This is the third week he has been called out on the Runway to explain himself (well less so since he was partnered with Marion the week before and Marion was Auf'd)

Now I understand that Project Runway does well for Bravo. I really do. However they showed last night's episode at 10 and then 11 then 12 then 1. That is 4 hours of the same episode. They show the previous two episodes in heavier rotation than I have ever seen for Project Runway. And they are showing the 3rd season to death. I almost rather they got back to the first season since there are 3 episodes of that one I have not seen. I am sure there is a logical explanation as to why they are doing this but I am finding it downright annoying.

Ariel likes Christian, Kit, Jillian, and Chris. I like Chris, Kit, Sweet P, Jillian, and Elisa. Christian is grown on me. I do like that he realized that he had a serious wake-up call in week two and could joke about it in week 3. The rest of the pack has not impressed us yet.

I am grateful I have another season of Project Runway to chew over.

I love Project Runway, and I was finally at a hotel last night where I could watch it. I saw two of the eps for this season.

Last night's episode was rough. Blues and I were talking about whether I could handle the stress of that kind of pressure.

I reminded him that I do not tailor men's shirts because they are a pain, but I could handle a vest/pants combo (I would have experimented with button-fly, just for the hell of it). So, maybe I will try that challenge "on my own" so to speak - see if I can do it, sans pattern, and make something for Par.

I already have some ideas for women's wear that I want to play with.

I have been a PR fan since Season 2, although I watched a marathon of S1 and loved it.

Christian reminds me a lot of Phil at that age. I don't know why, really, because their personalities are very different. Maybe it's the diva attitude. :)

We're still big fans of the show, but honestly, no one in this season has really grabbed be, whether good or bad. Hopefully that will change as the field narrows.

Oh I am far too in love with Project Runway. It inspired me to go to Mood fabrics which is like a toy store! *ahem* Christian annoys me A LOT. Mainly his hair, but his attitude as well. And sadly no one seems super ridiculous this season like Jay from season 1 or Santino from 2... he was my favorite just for his Tim Gunn impression. Okay I'll cut this before I hijack your lj heh.

Not a fan of the show, but I am a fan of Heidi Klum (not for that reason - although it's a nice reason), I just like the fact that she doesn't take herself too seriously.

That's a good thing.

My guilty tv pleasure is Americas Next Top Model, not because I really care about modeling that much but rather because I love the photo shoot part of the episodes. It's so interesting to see how people can look very different in photos than in real life.

I'm addicted to Project Runway. Cristian (I call him Steven but whatev) is my favorite X) He is so stuck up it's hilarious. Kit and Sweet Pea are also very awesome. Crazy needs to get Auf'd for MY sanity though... she's like the Angela of this season... except weirder >:(

There is a marathon all day tomorrow, I assume will be starting with Season One. :) Thought you might like to know if you didn't already. I believe that it is slated to begin at 11a.
