Calling London

My sympathies to my readers in the UK. This weekend has been a rough one for y'all so far. It could have been worse but thanks to vigilant people it was not. I know the area that they found the bombs in. I use to walk through it to get to other parts of the city when I was over there. I think someone should get the individual who cause the call to the paramedics a big bunch of flowers.
I have not seen the last episode of the season but the rumblings are interesting from what I can read without spoilers. I have re-watched "Sound of the Drums" and "Utopia" a number of times now especially the last 10 minutes of each.
We have been watching our way through the new Robin Hood series and so far it has been really good. Peter did get to tell Paul Cornell that we thought one of the jokes in an episode that Paul wrote took a while to get to but it did have a pretty good pay-off if you know American Rock Music. The interview with Peter and Paul will be airing July 9th and 14th on Resonance FM as part of "Panel Boarders" at 4:45. There is a website www.panelboards.com with more information.
Costuming is moving along. Peter, bless his heart, took the girls out yesterday so I had some time without interruption and I got quite a bit done. Last night I started on the hand sewing and stray thread removal portion of the program. Today I start on the next piece of the costume. Wish me luck cause I am gonna need it.
I am grateful that the bombs were found before they could really hurt anyone.

Date: 2007-07-01 03:19 pm (UTC)On the one hand, I can understand why and how they've updated and addressed the mythos. I'm really digging this version of Gisbourne; he's possibly the most complex character on the show and, oh yeah, he's hot. :-)
On the other hand, even though I've watched every episode, I always found myself, after the first 15 minutes, splitting my attention with something else; I just haven't found it compelling--still no sure why. The obvious, almost 60s-style make-up on the women and the clearly updated costumes have bugged me from the start. But most of all, I'm just not all that excited by Robin himself, and I can't figure out why Robin expects Marian to come with him.
The weird thing is, I want to like the show more than I do. I've spent a season trying. I guess I feel like I want to see its potential bloom.

Date: 2007-07-02 12:17 pm (UTC)I have been enjoying your work for a number of years and recommended "Human Nature" (the book) to a number of Doctor Who fans over the years who were not so hot on the Virgin paperback series.
