We did get snow. It started a little before 5 AM and we have a nice coat on the ground that is going to go away quickly or all turn to slush. Already I can see patches of grass poking through. We may be getting some more snow or rain this morning and this evening. So kind of a grey day with some rather pretty snow on the ground for a short time but nothing that needs shoveling.

I have finally convinced Caroline to open the Play-doh one pack at a time and put it up before opening the next one. I have also finally got her to put the caps back on her felt-tip pens. This I did by allowing one of her favorites dry out because she left the cap off. Now she is much more diligent about keeping the caps on when not in use. We also have been working on such other skills as one puzzle out at a time on the floor, picking up the previous set of toys before moving onto the next set, and taking turns while playing a game with various successes.

I have to get my rear into gear on the stuff for Farpoint. I want to get one project done by the Broadway Bears auction which gives me a week to do the other.

Some health stuff under the cut so you can skip if you want to.

In my continuing quest to figure out why I am so bloody tired, last night I went to a sleep study center and...well...slept. This after I had a number of devices and electrodes attached to various parts of my body. I read for a bit and then settled down to try to sleep. In my mind it took quite a while to fall asleep and I didn't stay asleep during the 6 hour study. For some reason both during the study and the sleep I got when I came home I had some sort of nightmare that I can remember bits and pieces to but both dreams ended with me saying the word "Alpaca". I had another couple that I do remember but those were more free formed. They unhooked me and sent me home about 5 AM which is why I know when the snow started. The most fun (sarcastic fun not real fun) was getting the electrodes out of my hair since they glued them to my scalp. Hot water gets them off but not a fun process.

Now I wait 5 to 10 business days to find out the "findings" of the study.

I am grateful for pretty snow I don't have to worry about shoveling cause it is all melting so the sidewalk is clean.

Let us know how the sleep study went, okay? We worry.

Check your email.

OK, that was bad. I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not.

One of the many cool interviews I did as a writer-reporter (3 years at a weekly community newspaper) was Stanford's Dr. William Dement, one of the pioneers of sleep study, and I've been interested in it ever since. It's amazing how little we knew as recently as the 1960s about how what the body does while sleeping. More people need to take advantage of studies like that; we know so much about why people have trouble sleeping, but not enough people know specifically what's causing their tiredness. (And I'm not just saying that because of the hospital where I work having a good sleep study unit.)

I'm hoping for a good verdict for you.

That's the only way we really learn, after all.

By the way, I'm crushing on your Pinky and the Brain pic. I was such a fan of the cartoon though I have not yet made the plunge to purchase the DVD sets. Mainly because I don't watch my Looney Tunes Golden Collection like I thought I might so for new DVDs, budget outweighs desire.
