Christmas Eve 2006

The stockings aren't hung at the chimney with care yet, but there is a fireplace here so we might get around to that.

This is sort of a pause day. There are things to do and rituals to perform later but right now we are taking a deep breath in anticipation of tomorrow. Peter is working on his Fantastic Four novel that he wants to get to the editor before the New Year. Ariel is reading Dracula for the first time. Caroline is bouncing around playing with various toys that she can only find at her grandparent's house. I am taking that deep breath and savoring the pause. I have been so busy with so many things for a while now that I have been forgetting to stop and take a breath occasionally.

Our stockings were already hung when I got here (finally!) on Saturday. Weird, because usually we don't put them up till Christmas Eve. By now they're even filled. Kind of takes the fun out of it when Mom doesn't wait until after we're all in bed to do that. (Of course, we're going to bed later than she is these days...)
