2007? What is this 2007?

I have a carton of Orange Juice in my refrigerator that expires in early 2007. My question is where did 2006 go? I swear it just started. But I looked at my Froud Goblin calendar and it informed me that the year has almost past. (For those of you that have that Calendar, the odd person in the picture is Brian himself). They aren't doing a Goblin calendar for 2007 so I am going with squished fairies and Cirque. We need at least two calendars around here to keep up with things.

I am going to put up some simple holiday lights today when I get to a point in the fluzzies that needs to give them some time to dry. I have a lot on my plate today but I think I can get it all done in time. Still deciding what to make for dinner. Chicken something I think.

The baseball owners are meeting in Florida this week and that means that Spring training is just around the corner. Both Atlanta and the Mets have made some good trades. The Yankees keep throwing money at people who may or may not be a good idea. A-Rod working out for y'all there?

Who would have thought at the beginning of the football season that the Jets would have a better record than the Giants at this point of the season? The Cowboy loss was a bad one due not to Eli who did a great job but the defense who handed the game over.

Ohio State plays Florida at the Tostitos BCS National Championship game. I would much rather that these two teams played in the Rose Bowl. It means more to me rather than some made up corporate name and game. I really didn't think that Michigan and OSU would have two games this year.

I may put up the Birthday party pictures later today but not going to push myself to add something else to my day.

I am grateful for things that I can recycle into puppets.

Er, you seem to have mixed up the Yanks with the Cubs. (An eight-year contract for a 31-year-old????????) Or the Dodgers. (Juan Pierre?) Or the Red Sox. ($51 million just to negotiate?????) The Yanks have actually been rational this winter.

And A-Rod's working out fine. For all the media-created bullshit, he's still one of the best players in the game. The rest of it is irrelevant sideshow crap.

Dream on Yankee Boy but I am looking at his stats for the 2nd half of last season and wondering how much hair Steinbrener has left from pulling it out in clumps in frustration.

Who's dreaming? The Yanks are just about the only team not overspending on mediocrity this winter. (Actually, the Mets aren't, either, and Minaya fleeced the Royals in the Bannister deal.) Did you see what the Royals offered Gil Meche? Someone described that signing as akin to a family on welfare buying a plasma TV that doesn't work.....

As for A-Rod's second half, what was wrong with it? It was actually better than his first half (which included a truly dreadful June.) After the All-Star break, he hit .300, with a .394 OBP and a .545 SLG. And while that's off for him, that's still pretty damn good. By contrast, David Wright's second half line is .305 BA/.375 OBP/.469 SLG, but nobody's talking about running him out of town on a rail (nor should they).

There's nothing whatsoever to indicate that this is the beginning of a trend, and even if it is, he's got a looooooooooong way to go before he reaches the point where he's not useful to the team. Right now, he's one of the best players in baseball.

I can't remember a time where I didn't have puppets in my life. According to my mother I started with hand puppets at the age of two. Making them started when I was a teen and really took off after I got out of grad school. I had these wacky ideas that I knew the only way I was going to see them is to create myself. It sort of snowballed from there.

the problem there (and I have to admit that we did try peanut butter at one point for a puppet) is that the body heat makes the peanut butter rather runny rather fast.
