The Write Thing

Caroline had a very nice birthday yesterday. We got her a winter coat since her previous ones were starting to get obviously short in the sleeve. She opened her gifts from my parents while they watched via iChat. A wonderful invention that is. Caroline has grown up being able to see and talk to her grandparents. She had her favorite lunch and played with all her new toys. She told me at the end of the day that she had a good birthday and she likes being four.
Just a note for anyone who has e-mailed me in the past week. Sorry I am so behind on things but I will work on responding to everyone today. Yesterday was all about the Birthday. Today is all about the e-mail. Monday was all about the pick-up from the party.
The cold is here to stay for the winter. Funny that I was in shirtsleeves and playing with Caroline outside just a week ago and today the wind will take the skin off your face if you let it.
I was thinking about Caroline possibly slogging through this web log in the future. Her generation is really going to be the first one whose lives are going to be document from birth like this. Because of this new tool more people are recording what they are doing and what their children are doing. For Caroline I didn't start this until she was a year old but I do have a paper journal that was started before she was born. Actually it was started the day I started working at Del Rey but is rather erratic until around the time I was pregnant with her. I have been writing off and on in journals since I was a young teen. I still have a number of them from high school and college. I lost the knack in grad school but picked it back up about 10 years later. Since I started blogging I have been pretty consistent about posting once a day. I tend to write in the morning since that is my best time for a brain dump.
I am grateful that I do have my early journals.
