I got as far as I needed to get yesterday but there is a wrinkle right now. My truck has probably blown the alternator. I am betting that a belt or two went also. It was an adventure getting the truck to our mechanic which just made it and our mechanic happen to be working late. So I am waiting to see what is wrong with the truck.

However the living room is in great shape so I am onto the next room which is the kitchen and not in that bad a shape right now. Less paper accumulates there then in the living room. Peter bought some more bookshelves to give us a bit of a breather for shelf space. Peter and I keep talking about thinning out the book herd but it can be difficult to do. We need to pick the bookshelves up which we were doing when the truck informed us that it was not happy.

Today is a gray misty day outside. The temperature is still nice. One just needs a light jacket. I don't think we are going to get our annual snowstorm around Caroline's birthday this year breaking a 4 year tradition. Even if it does snow, it won't stick because the ground is too warm.

I am grateful that I got the majority of things I needed the truck for done before it was done.

Ick. I've had alternator problems at bad times before. The last one was when we were driving back from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia and there was a freak snowstorm in April. Thankfully, we found a 24/7 repair shop. (It was a Sunday night around 5.) We had to stay the night at a hotel and Rich needed to reschedule his thesis meeting, but we got the car fixed. I'm glad you were able to get the truck into the mechanic in time yourselves, though!

Thanks. Scariest part had to be going across the railroad tracks and the battery light came on and stayed on.

Oh, yuck! Alternators--so absolutely essential you forget completely about them until your battery charge starts vanishing for no good reason.

Which belts? The only time I lost a belt was when I snapped a timing belt--in the middle of the Atlanta airport beltway on Easter Sunday. That was fun.

Best of luck with the truck, and may it be a quick and easy repair...
