First off I am thinking this congestion that has been plaguing me is a cold and not allergies like I thought over the weekend. I guess the true test will be that if this clears up by tomorrow then I will declare it allergies. All I know is that my head is miserable right now so thinking hurts a bit.

Overall the David Family had a fine convention. Peter signed a lot of stuff for people. Old friends were there to be caught up with and we made some new ones. Ariel got to hang around with one of her best buddies for two days, got a David Tennant doll that she so wants me to make a Casanova outfit for and interviewed William Shatner briefly for her school news paper. Caroline had fun playing with her cousins and just being at the convention. She wore her original Star Trek Captain's shirt on Saturday and was making a lot of people smile.

We spent some time with Jewel Staite and her husband Matt. Caroline declared that Jewel is Princess Jewel and that she is a mermaid which Jewel found amusing. Matt and Caroline worked on a drawing together. At one point I was off to get something for Peter and a fan asked where Caroline was. I pointed to Jewel's table where Caroline was sitting between Jewel and Matt and said," Jewel's babysitting her for me." Which had the fans in line laughing. Over all she was a very good girl. We even got her to share her precious ponies with her cousins after a bit of a melt-down.

I found out about the invention that Dean Haglund created called a Chill Pak that allows to keep the computer CPU running at optimum efficiency. He told us how he had come up with it and how it works. I'm going to have to get one or even two. Www.chillpak.com for more info. I would have gotten one there but he sold out of them within the first two hours of being set up for autographing.

I had a lot of great conversations with a lot of people and had a blast. Now back home I have to deal with the unpacking and the laundry now. Sometime I might get back to writing that NaNo I was keeping up with until the weekend.

I am grateful that we went to the convention.

So... are you related to some famous science fiction folk or something?

I'm married to Peter David who wrote a TV series called Space Cases which had this 13 year old actress named Jewel Staite. And since he wrote Babylon 5 as well we know that entire cast. So a number of my connections are through his work and a number have come through my work as an editor and conventions I have done through the years.

Jewel Staite. Wow. I liked her on Firefly, but I don't think I've seen anything else she's done. Any recommendations?

She has a new film coming out called "The Tribe" and she has guest starred on various shows including WonderFalls. Space Cases is not availible yet but I hope it will be soon.

Was she the lead character on WonderFalls? I did catch the very first episode and enjoyed the premise. (woefully, I find myself not watching a lot of telly and occasionally would enjoy getting completely immersed in a show)

I've been meaning to share my own musical talents with you sometime. Let me know if that sounds of any interest. :)

Not the lead. She was in an episode (or maybe two).

The first thing I ever saw her in was Space Cases, which was a kid's show on Nickelodeon. The show was very cheap -- cheaper than 1970s Doctor Who cheap. What made it good was, like Doctor Who it had good acting (from the kids and the adults) and great writing!

Oh. Did I mention that Peter David and Bill Mumy were the creators/writers.

Also Harlan Ellison(!) did the opening narration.

And it had a ship shaped like a bird....

Bill you were the one who introduced me to the series since i was not watching Nick at the time due to all the stage managing I was doing at the time.
