I got my glasses yesterday and started to use them. I can now see detail that I hadn't seen in a while. The only adjustment I need to make is when I look at something a little ways away I need to not look through the glasses. They are only for close-up stuff. I will say that my eyes were not as tired last night when I went bowling then they had been in previous weeks so I will take that as a good sign.
Not much done puppetwise other than ordering some stuff I need for the puppets to complete them. It was more about getting a few other things done that needed to be attended to. Today I am hoping to get more done but I have another project that needs my attention first. Tomorrow is paper day for recycling so I have to go through about 2 weeks worth of paper stuff to figure out what stays and what goes out the door for recycling. I may do my one hour of one thing and then one hour of another thing. I did get my camera charged so I can take pictures of the process for the demo at DragonCon.
I didn't believe that the best way to get over your fear of talking in a front of a group is to talk in front of a group. Now I think it is the best way of getting over talking to a group. I use to have a lot of anxiety about public speaking to the point that I would have a panic attack but I didn't know what it was at the time. Between Del Rey and being a panelist at various conventions I have gotten over it and now am quite comfortable talking to groups of people. I am looking forward to my panels at DragonCon.
That and Fat Matt's Rib Shack. Ariel really wants to go to Ru Sans for lunch or dinner. Fat Matt's is a given especially if the chicken shack is open as well. I can remember Peter telling Harlan on our wedding rehearsal day that we were going to this great rib joint for lunch. Harlan told Peter that there was this great rib place in Atlanta that he loved but he couldn't remember the name. Harlan walked into Fat Matt's and said, "This is it!" A couple of years later when Harlan was the Guest of Honor for DragonCon I brought Susan and him food from Fat Matt's for which he was very grateful. Last year we took Marv Wolfman there and he loved it too.
I am grateful for the ability to talk to groups.

Date: 2006-08-17 12:53 am (UTC)I know I'm an amateur with delusions of grandeur, but the puppets just won't leave me, and I am compelled to give it a go. On the upside, I do have experience making dolls, so I hope this is something of a refinement...
