Father's Day was rather relaxed. I took the girls to the park so Caroline could get some running around done and Peter could finish scripting an issue of "Soulsearchers & Company". Peter and Ariel went out to lunch together and to try to find a gift for a friend of Ariel's who just graduated. Peter and I went to see "The Break-Up". We took him out to dinner at one of the local kid-friendly restaurant. Afterwards Peter and Ariel went bowling while Caroline and I visited with her friend Katie and her parents. About 8:30 the mosquitoes started to come out and we had to separate the bestest buddies who both went home and had baths. Peter tried out his hammock which was a present from the grils to him for Father's Day. We watched "Here Come the Brides" to round out the day. Funny show that I didn't see since I was but an infant when it came out.
"The Break-Up" is not a bad film. The more I think about the ending the more I think it was the right ending to the film. Solid performances by the whole cast with some really gems by the supporting cast. I think this is the first thing I have seen Vince Vaughn in since "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". I have not see "The Wedding Crashers". He is a much better actor then I had given him credit for. Jennifer Anniston is fun as always. She does "high-strung" very well. In some ways it plays like a soap opera with missed opportunities and being just a little too late with the right words but it also does feel like real life and bad break-ups I have seen among some of my friends including a fight over who got the rent-controlled apartment in Manhattan with a nice view of the harbor but not much closet space.
Today Ariel, Caroline and I have a few errands to run. If we go to the playground it is going to be early today since we are heading for the 90s with the possibility of rain/thunderstorms in the afternoon.
It is kinda funny not to be at the beginning of the costume panic for Shoreleave. I have a few pieces I need to do but that is it. The art show stuff is starting to take shape in my head at least. I think the Doctor Who set is for DragonCon. I have another just a silly idea for Shoreleave.
I am grateful that Peter had a mostly nice Father's Day.
