This was the second part of a two parter. I believe there are only 3 this season. Spoiler Stuff of course behind the cut.
Again I really thought they went over the top with the fart jokes in the beginning but the further we go into the episode the fewer the jokes about bodily noises and the higher the tension as the Doctor tries to save the world and his companions again. Anyone else catch the UNIT reference? It was brief but there. The personalities of the characters do a major jump in become 3-D especially Mickey who shows another side of himself under pressure. Overall I think this makes the previous episode much more solid if you view the two together. Of course next week is "Dalek" which is the episode that made me go from oh isn't nice to be able to watch Doctor Who to I must see the next episode of Doctor Who.
I am grateful that Russell T Davies succeeded with his vision for Doctor Who.
Best scene for me was the one between Jackie and the Doctor on whether he can keep her safe from harm. Lots of passion and pathos and they weren't even in the same room. Mickey came into his own from whiny boyfriend to man of action. I also like the quips between the Doctor and Mickey while they are breaking into the missile defense program. Then there was the scene at the end where Mickey explains to the Doctor why he can't go off with Rose even though he loves her so much and when push comes to shove the Doctor gives him an out that leaves Mickey looking pretty good. I have known a lot of women like Jackie in my time. I like that her love and her concerns for her daughter's life come shining through in this episode. Underneath the platinum blond dyed hair beats a true heart. This was a good character episode and has a bunch of stuff that will become more important later
